Murphy & Mitzi is a 2018 animated comedy web series consisting of shorts and comics created and developed by Alex Marek (known online as AJMarekArt). The series follows the two titular characters (a cat and squirrel respectively), as well as a dog named Zoe, a vixen named Vivian and a mysterious bunny, known only as [bunny], living in the early 2000s in the fictional city of New Lennium City.

Synopsis

The series features Murphy and Mitzi as they both engage in chaotic and reckless activities all around New Lennium City, often causing collateral damage, hurting others and themselves in the process, or simply provoking an unfortunate event for both. Murphy is a mischievous 12-year old skater cat with very bad luck who believes himself to be a junior Tony Hawk and a professional hacker. He actually is a dorky kid who is too afraid to perform his cool stunts when girls are around and plays video games whenever he's not breaking half his bones trying to actually do one of these. Essentially, he is a good boy that wants to be a bad boy. Mitzi is a sweet although extremely impulsive squirrel who has good intentions and a kind heart, but somehow got kicked out of the Cookie Scout camp after her antics were too much. Other characters include [bunny], a mysterious bunny figure who can act creepy, Zoe, a rollerblading, laid-back 16-year old dog who acts as a bigger sister figure to the duo, often having to keep up with their antics be it on a casual day or at whatever her current day job is, and Vivian, a snooty and rude vixen. The series is set in New Lennium City, a somewhat futuristic, New York-like city in the early 2000s being the main setting of the whole series and a tribute thereof. The art style irradiates and closely mimics that of a Y2K cartoon.

Characters

Main

Murphy - One of the two titular protagonists. A 12-year-old cat who often rides on his skateboard and hangs out with Mitzi on their adventures. [1]

Mitzi - One of the two titular protagonists. A 12-year-old red squirrel who despite having good nature, can be a bit silly and dim-witted. She often hangs out with Murphy. [1]

Zoe - A 16-year-old brown poodle who acts as a sister figure to Murphy and Mitzi. She can get annoyed with whatever things they do at times, but still cares for them. [2]

Vivian - A 12-year-old vixen known for being bratty and the main rival of the duo. She is presumed to be rich, as she is seen in a limo at one point, in an episode, titled "Traffic Surfing". [3]

[bunny] - A mysterious bunny figure within New Lennium City. Not much is known about her, but she can be very creepy towards anyone she encounters. [2]

Supporting

Delia - Murphy's mother and Vincent's wife who works as a news reporter at the Channel 4 news station. She doesn't often see her son during the day, due to the amounts of reports, but whenever she does see him, she either responds with joy to see her son or anger that he and Mitzi cause the news. [4]

Vincent - Murphy's father and Delia's husband who also works at the same place as her, as a weatherman. He makes cheesy jokes, which Murphy doesn't like. Just like Delia, Vincent doesn't see Murphy very much, but the two trust him to be on their own, due to them thinking he's sensible enough. [4]

Meryl - Mitzi's mother, divorced wife of Buck and the rival of Delia. She works at the Acorn Acres Bakery, which is run by her mother and Mitzi's grandmother. Meryl doesn't trust Murphy as being a friend of Mitzi, due to their differences and that he is seen by her as a bad influence on her. [5]

Buck - Mitzi's father and divorced husband of Meryl. It's hard to identify everything about him, due to the fact he burnt his medical records. Buck lives in the middle of the forest and works as a lumberjack. [5]

Doe Remi - A deer rock star in New Lennium City and works a part time job at a record store, as well as offering music lessons to anyone willing to learn. [6]

Chrysanthemum - An uptight, short-tempered and critical orange chinchilla wanting to make New Lennium City a better place to live. However, no one takes her seriously. She especially can't handle Murphy and Mitzi, as they intentionally make her angry. [6]

Calvin - A mole who considers himself to be cool.

Chanel - A bored tiger working at a store tirelessly throughout most of the day.

Ms. Macy DePoint - Murphy and Mitzi's raccoon teacher. [7]

Minor

Jimmy and Bimmy - Murphy's young cousins.

Maxine - Murphy's paternal grandmother and Vincent's mother. She tends to act cool. Maxine doesn't see Murphy often, as she is spreading the ashes of her late husband around the country. [8]

Murphy's paternal grandfather - The deceased father of Vincent, as well as the deceased grandfather of Murphy. [8]

Mildred and Mortimer - The parents of Meryl and maternal grandparents of Mitzi. Mitzi's grandmother owns the bakery. [8]

Background characters - These include a bird, two dogs, a goat, a bat, a sheep, a wasp, a lizard, a mouse, two rabbits, a flamingo, a polar bear, two wolves, a poodle, a turtle, a grizzly bear, four dogs and either a crocodile or alligator, all of whom have no names. [9] [10] [11]
