Mushroom: Fifty Years of Making Noise is a yearlong event celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of Mushroom Records. The event was launched with an advertisement and release of special merchandise in March 2023, release of several reimagined singles and concluded with a live concert on 26 November 2023 at Rod Laver Arena. [1] The release of the Michael Gudinski documentary Ego: The Michael Gudinski Story in August 2023, coincided with the event. [2]

A live concert titled 50 Songs for 50 Years is set for 26 November 2023 and will be broadcast live throughout Australia via Seven Network and 7plus. [2] [3]

The concert was announced in October 2023 with Mushroom Group CEO Matt Gudinski calling the concert an "incredible once-in-a-lifetime night" saying "This will be a true celebration of Australian music and a showcase our thriving local music scene and its history. I know my late father would be very proud of what we are putting together." [4]

The four-hour event was the most-watched entertainment show of the evening, with 557,000 viewers. [6]

The Sound of White is the debut studio album by Australian pop singer-songwriter Missy Higgins, released 6 September 2004 by Eleven. It won the 2005 ARIA Music Award for Best Female Artist. Higgins had secured recording contracts with Eleven and Warner Bros. while still in high school, after winning a competition for unsigned artists run by radio station Triple J. Her winning song, "All For Believing", is included on this album. After a backpacking trip in 2002, Higgins toured and wrote songs during 2003. She wrote most tracks alone and collaborated on three songs, with Kevin Griffin, Jay Clifford and Clif Magness respectively. The Sound of White was recorded in 2004 with producer John Porter.

Madder Lake are an Australian progressive rock band formed in Melbourne in 1968 as San Sebastian. They were one of the first bands signed to the Michael Gudinski co-owned Mushroom Records which released their debut single, "Goodbye Lollypop" in February 1973, followed by the album Stillpoint in August. This contained their most recognisable single, "12lb Toothbrush". Their second album Butterfly Farm was released in April 1974, they left Mushroom after their last single, "I Get High" appeared in July 1976.
