Background

While in primary school, in addition to skiing, Maze also played piano. [1] During preparations for the 2013 season she recorded her first song "My Way Is My Decision". [2] She also blogged about the story on her trip into music. [3] [4] The news of Maze becoming a "popstar" or "rockstar" was a celebrity news in her country [5] [6] [7] [8] and she got some attention in foreign media too. [9] [10] [11]

Song writing

The song "My Way Is My Decision" was produced by Raay, one of the top Slovenian producers and music written by Matjaž Jelen & Raay, lyrics by Charlie Mason & Leon Oblak. [12] It's a modern mainstream radio-friendly up-tempo song with a hint of rock. It was released on 26 October, the day before the first race of the season in Solden. The music video has become the most viewed new video on YouTube by a Slovenian music artist as it reached over 400,000 views in less than 3 days, which is Slovenia's fastest growing video in music business industry. [12] In February 2013, it reached 1,000,000 views.

Charlie Mason is an American lyricist whose credits include releases by Miley Cyrus, Eric Saade, Abraham Mateo, BoA, Ross Lynch, Monrose, Sergey Lazarev, Sweet California, Danny Saucedo, Sarah Connor, Robin Beck, Jason DEE and Queensberry.

Maraaya

Maraaya are a Slovene duo founded by Marjetka Vovk and Raay in 2014. The group's name is a combination of its members' names, while its pronunciation means "She has Raay" in the Slovene language. With help and international cooperation of well known Estonian Vita Pictura Productions, they became one of the few Slovenian artists to get an official VEVO channel on YouTube.

Parliamentary elections were held in Slovenia on 4 December 2011 to elect the 90 deputies of the National Assembly. This was the first early election in Slovenia's history. 65.60% of voters cast their vote. The election was surprisingly won by the center-left Positive Slovenia party, led by Zoran Janković. However, he failed to be elected as the new Prime Minister in the National Assembly, and the new government was formed by a right-leaning coalition of five parties, led by Janez Janša, the president of the second-placed Slovenian Democratic Party.

The first round was won, contrary to the opinion poll predictions, by Pahor, with Türk placing second. In the run-off election, Pahor won with roughly two thirds of the vote.

The Slovenian entry was selected through an internal selection, organised by the Slovenian broadcaster Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTVSLO). After a jury reduced eight competing songs to two superfinalists, a public televote selected "Here For You" performed by Maraaya as the winner of the national final. In the second of the Eurovision semi-finals "Here For You" placed fifth out of the 17 participating countries, securing its place among the 27 other songs in the final. "Diamond Duck" is a song by Slovene duo Maraaya and their sixth single released by Warner Music on 22 September 2017 and ten days later in Slovenia. The song talks about the current political situation around the world. The song's title also refers to the sporting term in cricket.
