Myint Naing (Burmese :မြင့်နိုင်;born 13 November 1942) is a Burmese dental professor who was the rector of the University of Dental Medicine,Yangon from 1995 to 1997. He was the third president of the Myanmar Dental Association (MDA) from 1996 to 1998. [1] [2]
Myint Naing was born in Rangoon,Myanmar on 13 November 1942. [3] He graduated from University of Calcutta,Calcutta Medical College,India in July 1962. He received M.D.S. from Bombay in 1990. [3]
The University of Dental Medicine,Yangon,is the leading university of dental medicine,located in Yangon,Myanmar. The university,along with the University of Dental Medicine,Mandalay,is one of only two universities of dental medicine in the country. The annual intake into both dental universities used to be 300 but from 2017 the annual intake for each university has been decreased to only 100. The country with a population of over 50 million had only about 1,500 dentists in 2005.

Thiri Pyanchi Ba ThanFRCS FACS FICS was a Burmese medical surgeon,educator and administrator. The first Burmese police surgeon in British Burma,Ba Than founded and ran the main hospital in Rangoon (Yangon) as well as the wartime medical and nursing schools during the Japanese occupation of the country (1942–1945). After the country's independence in 1948,Ba Than served several terms as dean and rector of the main medical universities in Rangoon and Mandalay until two months before his death in 1971.
