NESferatu is the first album by The Gothsicles, released after their debut EP Etherblister.NESferatu was released in September 2006, on Sonic Mainline Records. Themes in the album are diverse and often comedic. Wrote critic Aaron Coats of Inside Pulse, "seventy percent sarcasm and thirty percent absurdity, this amusing album is both an ode to the goth cliche and a tribute to 8-bit gaming." [1]

Production and themes

Themes are diverse and often humorous, often relating to video games or subcultures. The album's track "Triple Shot" is about the maximum powerup in Galaga , while "One Second Ghost" is about the short invincibility experienced after taking damage in most platform games. Other songs reference games such as Konami Code, while "Turn Signals Are Still Cool" explains that turn signals are not optional. "I Can Tell You Shop At Hot(t) Topic" explains the ease of determining that one bought their clothes at Hot Topic. "Hey, I've Got That Font" is about the large collection of fonts the singer has, while "Better Versions by Other People" is a short song explaining that the next 4 songs are remixes of other songs on the album. "Platform Game" is a live performance. Song is not listed on album. "Theme to Full House" is another unlisted live performance. Cover of the theme song to Full House , by Jesse Fredrick.

According to a review in Local Sounds Magazine, "this CD is one of the few examples of dark electronic comedy out there." [2] Wrote critic Aaron Coats of Inside Pulse, "Seventy percent sarcasm and thirty percent absurdity, this amusing album is both an ode to the goth cliche and a tribute to 8-bit gaming." [1] Wrote Leslie Benson of NUVO in a positive review, "With video game clips and Pulp Fiction samples, some EBM beats and a Saved by the Bell ’s Screech kind of lyrical comedy, the album even pokes fun at itself." Amused to Death is the third studio album by English musician Roger Waters, released 7 September 1992 on Columbia. Produced by Waters and Patrick Leonard, it is mixed in QSound to enhance its spatial feel. The album features Jeff Beck on lead guitar on several tracks. Dead Artist Syndrome was a Christian gothic rock band formed in 1989 in Orange County, California. The group consisted of singer-songwriter Brian Healy and a rotating cast of side men. Healy was dubbed the "father of Christian goth" by Rozz Williams, and was an ordained minister. The name of D.A.S. according to Healy is "Dead Artist Syndrome means greater in death than in life, be it James Dean, Van Gogh or Jesus Christ". His debut album Prints of Darkness was a notable, groundbreaking release. The band had been sporadically active due to health issues, releasing two albums in the 2000s, and another in 2015. In 2006, Dead Artist Syndrome was named "Outstanding Orange County Band" by the editors and readers of Rock City News, a Los Angeles local music paper. For several years Healy was privately in poor health his gallbladder exploded while recording vocals resulting in emergency surgery, and a neurological disorder his wife Marie Tullai Healy described as "a combination of Michael J. Fox and the late Foster Brooks everybody thought he was drunk, Brian was falling down he broke his arm, slurring his speech trying to complete his record, next thing we know he's in a wheelchair, finally in 2012 they discovered the cause and he had brain surgery and is 100% back to his old self and had no idea any of this was going on, inside his head everything was fine". Healy said on his Facebook page 'He's back" and is actively recording, producing others and hosting Frontline Records Rewind Broadcast and podcast Healy died January 12, 2020 of a brain hemorrhage.

Genso Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki "Gensō Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century" is a role-playing video game developed by Konami for the PlayStation Portable. It was released in Japan on February 9, 2012.

The Gothsicles is an American industrial and electronic body music (EBM) band formerly based out of Chicago, Illinois after moving to Boston, Massachusetts in 2018. The group was formed in Wisconsin in 2002 by Brian "darkNES" Graupner, who handles vocals and synthesizers, and is the sole consistent member. The band has a rotating lineup of live musicians, including Matt Fanale of Caustic, Matt Slegel of Angelspit, and David Dodson of Abstinence. The band released its first LP, NESferatu, in 2006. Following albums included Sega Lugosi's Dead (2009), Industrialites & Magic (2011), Squid Icarus (2014), and I Feel Sicle, which was released on November 4, 2016. According to COMA Music Magazine, "The Gothsicles are one of the forerunners in Industrial Music for the Nerdy Masses."

<i>Professor Blastoff</i>

Professor Blastoff was a weekly comedy audio podcast, which was released every Tuesday and lasted four years from May 15, 2011 to July 21, 2015. It was hosted by comedians Tig Notaro, Kyle Dunnigan and David Huntsberger. The topics ranged from scientific, philosophical, metaphysical and humanitarian with guest host Aaron Burrell assisting in the research, who was also Tig's assistant at the time.
