The Northern Ontario Curling Association (NOCA) Men's Provincial Championship is the Northern Ontario provincial championship for men's curling. The winner represents Team Northern Ontarioannually at the Tim Hortons Brier. Northern Ontario has been represented at the Brier since 1927 despite not actually being a province. This historical fact has guaranteed Northern Ontario a separate team from Ontario in every national championship except the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Contents

Previous names include the Travelers Northern Ontario Men's Curling Championship (2014-2017), Dominion of Canada Northern Ontario Men's Curling Championship (2007-2013) Kia Cup (2006), Labatt Tankard (?-1999?; 2001-2005), and Nokia Cup (2000). It has been known as the Dominion of Canada Championships since 2007. The event is sponsored by The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company.

Qualifying

9 teams play at the Northern Ontario provincial. Three teams are selected from the East qualifier and three teams from the west qualifier. An additional team is selected each from an East last chance qualifier and one from a West last chance qualifier. The final team is selected by being the number one team from the region on the CTRS ranking as of December 31.

The Tim Hortons Brier, or simply the Brier, is the annual Canadian men's curling championship, sanctioned by Curling Canada. The current event name refers to its main sponsor, the Tim Hortons coffee and donut shop chain. John Morris (curler) Canadian curler and Olympic gold medallist

John Morris is a Canadian curler, and two-time Olympic gold medallist. Morris played third for the Kevin Martin team until April 24, 2013. Morris, author of the book Fit to Curl, is the son of Maureen and Earle Morris, inventor of the "Stabilizer" curling broom. Morris grew up in Gloucester, Ontario and at the age of five began curling at the Navy Curling Club.

CurlON

CurlON is the governing body of curling in Southern Ontario. Northern Ontario is governed by the Northern Ontario Curling Association (NOCA). The CurlON sends a team to represent Team Ontario at all major Canadian Championships. The NOCA sends a separate team to all of these events.

The Northern Ontario Curling Association is the regional governing body for the sport of curling in Northern Ontario.

Bradley "Brad" Jacobs is a Canadian curler from Prince, Ontario. He is an Olympic champion skip, having led Canada to a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
