NTR Trust or NTR Memorial Trust is a not-for-profit Indian social welfare organization. [1] The headquarter of this organization is in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. The organization was founded in 1997 for charitable and social welfare purposes. [2] [3] The organization was named after N. T. Rama Rao, a south Indian actor, director and ex Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. [4]
NTR Trust was established in 1997, [2] in the same year the Andhra Pradesh government headed by N. Chandrababu Naidu allocated land for the organization. [4]
In 2011 the organization announced that they would set up safe drinking water plants for the poor people who don't have easy access to safe drinking water. Earlier they had set up NTR Sujala Pathakam project that aimed at providing safe drinking water to 50,000 people. [5]
In 2014, they organized a job-fair (job mela) at NTR Trust Bhavan, Hyderabad, where 600 youths participated. [6]
In June 2014 Nara Bhuvaneswari, wife of N. Chandrababu Naidu, took charge of NTR Trust Bhavan, currently she is a trustee of the organization. [7]
In 2015 the organization declared about establishing a college in Gandipet. [8]
NTR Trust provides services such as free education to poor children and youth, healthcare, youth empowerment, and Disaster Response & Relief. [9] It also runs a Blood Bank in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati (NABH accredited) [10] In November 2015, NTR trust announced that they would offer free coaching to poor students. [11] NTR Sujala Scheme provides clean drinking water to 18 lakhs people in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Under the support of Nara Brahmani, the daughter-in-law of Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh as of 2016, NTR Memorial Trust in December 2015, started training the first batch of job aspirant graduate and post-graduate students. About 900 applicants they are training 130 candidates who have passed a level-II exam, free of cost for the competitive exams. [12] A blood donation drive will be organized on 18 January 2016, 20th death anniversary of the former chief minister of the Andhra Pradesh, N.T.Rama Rao by the organization. It was reported that in more than 200 places, blood donation camps will be held. [13]
In 1997 when land for NTR trust was being allocated, the legislature of Andhra Pradesh witnessed noisy scenes. Indian National Congress alleged that Telugu Desam Party and N. Chandrababu Naidu were attempting to promote their political party through this organization. [2]
Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, often referred to by his initials NTR, was an Indian actor, film director, film producer, screenwriter and politician who served as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for seven years over three terms. He is considered one of the most influential actors and filmmakers of Indian cinema. He starred in over 300 films, predominantly in Telugu cinema, and was referred to as Viswa Vikhyatha Nata Sarvabhouma. Rao received three National Film Awards for co-producing Thodu Dongalu (1954) and Seetharama Kalyanam (1960) under National Art Theater, Madras, and for directing Varakatnam (1970).
Nara Chandrababu Naidu, also known as Babu or CBN, is an Indian politician, statesman and the current Chief Minister elect of Andhra Pradesh. He also served as Chief Minister from 1995 to 2004, from 2014 to 2019, and as opposition leader from 2004 to 2014, from 2019 to 2024 of Andhra Pradesh. He has been the national president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) since 2015.

The Prakasam Barrage stretches 1223.5 m across the Krishna River connecting Vijayawada, NTR and Mangalagiri Tadepalle Municipal Corporation, Guntur districts in Andhra Pradesh, India. The barrage serves also as a road bridge and spans over a lake. The three canals associated with the barrage run through the city of Vijayawada, crossing it and giving it a Venetian appearance.
Daggubati Purandeswari is an Indian politician from the state of Andhra Pradesh and the State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Andhra Pradesh since 2023. She had served as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2009 and MoS in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 2012.
The 1996 Indian general election in Andhra Pradesh were held for 42 seats in the state. The result was a victory for the Indian National Congress which won 22 out of 42 seats. This was the first election contested by the TDP since its leader Chandrababu Naidu ousted the party founder N. T. Rama Rao in a palace coup in August 1995 and the latter's untimely death a few months later.
Nandamuri Taraka Ratna was an Indian actor who worked in Telugu cinema. After his debut in Okato Number Kurraadu (2003), he acted in several films as the lead actor and a few as the antagonist. He was a member of the Nandamuri family which is influential in Telugu cinema and politics. Taraka Ratna was also an aspiring politician from the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, rooting for the Telugu Desam Party. He died on 18 February 2023 at the age of 39 at Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences, following severe health complications.
Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao served as Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh for three terms, between 1983 and 1995. He was the first person to hold the office while not a member of the Indian National Congress, while representing the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which he himself founded in 1982. Rama Rao's time in office saw his ousting in an August 1984 coup after 1½ years in office, while he was abroad in the US undergoing coronary heart surgery. He was removed by Thakur Ram Lal, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, and replaced with Nadendla Bhaskara Rao, the finance minister. Having come back from surgery, Rama Rao regained his position through demonstrating his majority support from members of the Indian Legislative Assembly. He returned to office in September 1984.
Yanamala Rama Krishnudu is an Indian politician from the State of Andhra Pradesh. He was the senior leader of Telugu Desam Party. He contested 7 times between 1983 and 2009 where he won 6 times successively and lost 1 time from Tuni. He served as the Cabinet Minister in First and Second NTR Governments. He was the Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1995 to 1999. He is often regarded as an intellectual statesman and a technically sound leader.
Nara Lokesh is an Indian politician. He is the son of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and the Chief Minister elect of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu. He also served as Panchayat Raj, Rural development and IT and Communication minister through an MLC post. He was severely criticized for not contesting the elections and becoming a minister in his father Chandrababu Naidu's cabinet. However, after great criticism for not contesting any election, he finally chose to contest as an MLA for Mangalagiri Assembly Constituency and lost to YSR Congress Party candidate Alla Ramakrishna Reddy in 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections.
NTR: Mahanayakudu is a 2019 Indian Telugu-language biographical film, based on the real life and political career of N. T. Rama Rao, produced by Nandamuri Balakrishna, Sai Korrapati, Vishnu Vardhan Induri under NBK Films, Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram, Vibri Media banners and directed by Krish Jagarlamudi. It is the second movie in a two-part series, with the first being NTR: Kathanayakudu. The film stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vidya Balan, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Rana Daggubati in the lead roles and its music is composed by M. M. Keeravani. The film received positive reviews and yet bombed badly at the box office.
Lakshmi's NTR is a 2019 Indian Telugu-language biographical drama film based on the life of former film actor and chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, N. T.
