NXT UK TakeOver: Dublin was a scheduled professional wrestling livestreaming event that would have been produced by the American company WWE. It would have been the fourth NXT UK TakeOver event held exclusively for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT UK brand division. The event was scheduled to take place at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, which would have made it the first NXT UK TakeOver held outside the United Kingdom.

The event was originally to be held on 26 April 2020, but was rescheduled to 25 October due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which began affecting all of WWE's programming in mid-March that year. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the event was rescheduled once again, this time to 20 June 2021. However, on 30 April, the event was officially cancelled.

Production

Background

TakeOver was a series of professional wrestling shows that began on 29 May 2014, when WWE's NXT brand held their second live special on the WWE Network. [1] The NXT UK brand debuted in June 2018 and subsequently adopted the TakeOver name for their live WWE Network specials, beginning with NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool in January 2019. [2] TakeOver: Dublin would have been the fourth NXT UK TakeOver event. It was scheduled to be held at the 3Arena and was named after the venue's city of Dublin, Ireland. It would have marked the first NXT UK TakeOver event held outside the United Kingdom. [3] [4] [5]

TakeOver: Dublin was originally scheduled to take place on 26 April 2020. [3] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the event was postponed and rescheduled to occur on 25 October. [4] The ongoing pandemic caused the event to be rescheduled again, this time to 20 June 2021. NXT TakeOver was a series of periodic professional wrestling events produced by the American promotion WWE for its NXT brand division. The first TakeOver was simply titled TakeOver and was held in May 2014 as the brand's second major live event, after Arrival in February. TakeOver subsequently became the name for NXT's major events that were held several times a year. Beginning with the second event, TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way, many events included a subtitle, which either revived old WWE event names or were named after the event's location, some of which occurred annually, but some of the later ones were simply titled by their installment number. A total of 36 TakeOver events were held from May 2014 to August 2021.

The event was streamed exclusively on the WWE Network on June 7, 2020. While the majority of the event aired live from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, the Backlot Brawl match was pre-recorded on May 28 in the parking lot of Full Sail.

NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver was the 34th NXT TakeOver and inaugural Stand & Deliver professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming event produced by WWE. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT brand division. The event took place during WrestleMania 37 week on April 7 and 8, 2021, and was broadcast from the Capitol Wrestling Center, hosted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. It was the only TakeOver to take place over the span of two nights. Both nights aired on the WWE Network internationally, and was also the first WWE in-ring event to air on Peacock in the United States, following the shutdown of the aforementioned service's standalone American version on April 4. The first night also aired on the USA Network in NXT's weekly Wednesday night timeslot, making it the only TakeOver to air on television as well as the final NXT broadcast on Wednesdays before moving to Tuesdays on April 13, while the second night aired on traditional PPV in addition to the livestreaming services.

The 2021 NXT TakeOver: In Your House was the 35th NXT TakeOver and 29th In Your House professional wrestling event produced by WWE, and the second annual In Your House held for the promotion's NXT brand division. The event took place on June 13, 2021, from the Capitol Wrestling Center, hosted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. It was the first In Your House to livestream on Peacock, as well as the first to air on traditional pay-per-view (PPV) since St. Valentine's Day Massacre: In Your House that aired in February 1999; the previous TakeOver: In Your House only aired on the WWE Network. The TakeOver series was discontinued with NXT's rebranding to NXT 2.0 in September 2021, but one further In Your House was held for NXT in June 2022. This was also the last In Your House event to air on traditional PPV, as NXT's major events as of the 2022 calendar year no longer air on PPV.

The inaugural two-night event was broadcast through multiple outlets, with the first night airing as a television special on the USA Network and the second night on pay-per-view with both nights also airing through WWE's livestreaming services. Beginning with the 2022 event, it has been held as a one-day livestreaming event.
