NXT UK TakeOver: Dublin was a scheduled professional wrestling show and WWE Network event that would have been produced by WWE. It would have been the fourth NXT UK TakeOver event held exclusively for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT UK brand division. The event was scheduled to take place at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, which would have made it the first NXT UK TakeOver held outside the United Kingdom.

The event was originally to be held on 26 April 2020, but was rescheduled to 25 October due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which began affecting all of WWE's programming in mid-March that year. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the event was rescheduled once again, this time to 20 June 2021. However, on 30 April, the event was officially cancelled.

Production

Background

TakeOver was a series of professional wrestling shows that began on 29 May 2014, when WWE's NXT brand held their second live special on the WWE Network. [1] The NXT UK brand debuted in June 2018 and subsequently adopted the TakeOver name for their live WWE Network specials, beginning with NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool in January 2019. [2] TakeOver: Dublin would have been the fourth NXT UK TakeOver event. It was scheduled to be held at the 3Arena and was named after the venue's city of Dublin, Ireland. It would have marked the first NXT UK TakeOver event held outside the United Kingdom. [3] [4] [5]

TakeOver: Dublin was originally scheduled to take place on 26 April 2020. [3] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the event was postponed and rescheduled to occur on 25 October. The event was originally created in 2001 as a pay-per-view (PPV), when the promotion was still called the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). NXT TakeOver was a series of periodic professional wrestling events produced by WWE, a professional wrestling promotion based in Connecticut. The events were produced exclusively for the promotion's NXT brand division and aired live on pay-per-view (PPV) and the streaming services Peacock and the WWE Network. The first TakeOver event was simply titled TakeOver and was held on May 29, 2014. TakeOver events were then held several times a year. The events were originally streamed exclusively on the WWE Network until TakeOver 31 in October 2020, when the events also became available on traditional PPV before also becoming available on Peacock in early 2021. The TakeOver series came to an end following TakeOver 36 in August 2021, as in September, NXT was restructured as NXT 2.0 with the brand's succeeding events no longer carrying the TakeOver name.

NXT TakeOver: Portland 2020 WWE Network event

NXT TakeOver: Portland was the 28th NXT TakeOver professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It was held exclusively for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT brand division. The event aired exclusively on the WWE Network and took place on February 16, 2020, at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. It was the first NXT TakeOver to be held on a Sunday. This was also the last TakeOver event to take place before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which began affecting all of WWE's programming in mid-March. It was also the final NXT event to take place outside of Florida until NXT Stand & Deliver in April 2022, as the following episodes and events took place in Florida as a result of the pandemic.

NXT TakeOver: Tampa Bay 2020 WWE Network event; cancelled due to COVID-19

NXT TakeOver: Tampa Bay was a scheduled professional wrestling show and WWE Network event that was to be produced by WWE. It would have been the 29th NXT TakeOver event held exclusively for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT brand division—TakeOver: In Your House in June in turn became the 29th. The event was originally scheduled to take place on April 4, 2020, from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, but had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was ultimately canceled, but matches scheduled and planned for the event were rescheduled to take place across multiple episodes of NXT, starting April 1.

Grizzled Young Veterans Professional wrestling tag team

The Grizzled Young Veterans are a British professional wrestling tag team consisting of James Drake and Zack Gibson. They are currently signed to the WWE, working under their NXT brand. Drake and Gibson were the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions. They are also three-time Progress Tag Team Champions.

NXT TakeOver XXX 2020 WWE Network event

NXT TakeOver XXX was the 30th NXT TakeOver professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It was held exclusively for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT brand division. The event aired exclusively on the WWE Network and took place on August 22, 2020, at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, as part of that year's SummerSlam weekend. It was also the final NXT TakeOver event to air exclusively on the WWE Network, as beginning with TakeOver 31 in October, the events also became available on traditional pay-per-view.

The WWE ThunderDome was a bio-secure bubble created by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE, in partnership with the full-service fan experience company, The Famous Group. It was launched in August 2020 as a way for professional wrestling fans to attend WWE events virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic. The bubble was a videoconferencing crowd system and arena staging utilized for broadcasts of television shows and pay-per-views of the promotion's Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. It worked by users signing up days before an event, logging in and joining at their allocated call time to be seen on a screen at the event in real time. It was free of charge to spectate an event.

WWE Superstar Spectacle 2021 WWE television special and WWE Network event

WWE Superstar Spectacle was a professional wrestling television special and WWE Network event produced by WWE. It featured wrestlers from the promotion's Raw, SmackDown, and NXT brand divisions. The event was taped on January 22, 2021, and aired on January 26 for India's Republic Day. The event was specially produced for WWE's Indian market as a part of their five-year deal with Sony Pictures Networks India. The event also incorporated elements of traditional and contemporary Indian culture and emanated from the WWE ThunderDome, hosted at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver 2021 WWE pay-per-view and Peacock/WWE Network event

NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver was the 34th NXT TakeOver and inaugural Stand & Deliver professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT and NXT UK brand divisions. The event took place during WrestleMania 37 week on April 7 and 8, 2021, and was broadcast from the Capitol Wrestling Center, hosted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. It was the only TakeOver to take place over the span of two nights. Both nights aired on the WWE Network internationally, and was also the first WWE in-ring event to air on Peacock's WWE Network channel in the United States following the shutdown of the aforementioned service's standalone American version on April 4. The first night also aired on the USA Network in NXT's weekly Wednesday night timeslot, making it the only TakeOver to air on television as well as the final NXT broadcast on Wednesdays before moving to Tuesdays on April 13, while the second night aired on traditional pay-per-view in addition to Peacock/WWE Network.

NXT TakeOver 36 2021 WWE pay-per-view and Peacock/WWE Network event

NXT TakeOver 36 was the 36th and final NXT TakeOver professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT and NXT UK brand divisions. The event aired on pay-per-view (PPV) worldwide and was available to stream through Peacock in the United States and the WWE Network internationally. It took place on August 22, 2021, from the Capitol Wrestling Center, hosted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The event was held during that year's SummerSlam weekend, but was held the night after SummerSlam, which was held on Saturday while TakeOver 36 was held on Sunday. It was NXT's final PPV and WWE Network event in which the Performance Center's arena was called the Capitol Wrestling Center, as following NXT's restructuring as NXT 2.0 in September, the name was discontinued, with future events simply billed as being held at the Performance Center. The TakeOver series itself was discontinued in late 2021 after the rebranding to NXT 2.0. It would in turn be NXT's last major event in which the brand was considered WWE's third main brand, as with the restructuring to NXT 2.0, the brand reverted to being WWE's developmental territory.

NXT WarGames WWE pay-per-view and Peacock/WWE Network event series

NXT WarGames is a professional wrestling event produced annually by WWE, a Connecticut-based professional wrestling promotion. Held exclusively for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT brand division, it is broadcast live and available only through pay-per-view (PPV) and the streaming services Peacock and the WWE Network. The event was originally established in 2017 and held under the NXT TakeOver series. In 2021, WWE discontinued the TakeOver series with that year's WarGames being NXT's first PPV event held following TakeOver's discontinuation as well as the brand's first PPV held following its rebranding as NXT 2.0. From 2017 to 2019, the event was held in November as a support show for Survivor Series, but it was moved to December in 2020.

NXT Stand & Deliver is a professional wrestling event produced by WWE, a Connecticut-based professional wrestling promotion. Held primarily for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT brand division, it takes place annually during WrestleMania week. The inaugural event was available through pay-per-view worldwide and the streaming services Peacock in the United States and the WWE Network internationally, while the second event will only be available to stream through the latter two services.
