Nadja Abd el Farrag (born 5 March 1965), nicknamed Naddel, is a German television personality and singer. She became known for her relationship with pop musician Dieter Bohlen.

Early life

Abd el Farrag was born in Hamburg to a Sudanese father, Ibrahim, and a German mother, Uta. [1] She described her father as very strict and was estranged from him for the last fifteen years before his death. [1] She has a younger sister. [2] Abd el Farrag left school a year before the Abitur and later did an apprenticeship as a chemist's assistant and worked in a shop. [1]

Career

In 1989, Abd el Farrag met Dieter Bohlen in Hamburg and became a background singer for his project Blue System. [3] During that time, she briefly had a part-time job in a hospice. [1] Abd el Farrag and Bohlen were in a relationship from 1989 to 1996 and from 1997 to 2001. [4] In 1999, she did two photoshoots for the magazine Playboy . [3] From 1999 to 2000, she presented the RTL II erotic show Peep! [2]

In 2002, Abd el Farrag published a cook book, which was followed by her autobiography Ungelogen in 2003. Ungelogen details her youth and her relationship with Bohlen, and also contains controversial statements about her former manager Gerd Graf Bernadotte, who sued her to have some passages removed. [5] In 2004, she took part in the second season of Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus! , the German version of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! In 2005, she was a guest on Big Brother Germany for a week. In 2006, she released the single "Blinder Passagier" with Austrian schlager singer Kurt Elsasser  [ de ], which was followed by their collaborative album Weiße Pferde in 2007. That same year, they took part in the preselection for the Grand Prix der Volksmusik with the song "Heimat". From 2007 to 2017, her stage name Naddel was a registered trademark. [6] In 2008, Abd el Farrag also worked as a DJ. In 2009, she advertised for the German erotic company Orion and for the erotic fair Venus Berlin. [7] In 2013, she participated in Promiboxen on Sat.1. In 2016 and 2018, she took part in the RTL show Raus aus den Schulden, presented by debt counselor Peter Zwegat  [ de ]. [8] Also in 2018, she released her second autobiography Achterbahn.

Deutschland sucht den Superstar is a German reality talent show. Part of the Idol franchise, it was created by British media mogul Simon Fuller as a spin-off from the British show Pop Idol, of which two series were broadcast between the years of 2001 and 2003. Debuting to mediocre ratings in November 2002 on the RTL network, the show has since become one of the most successful shows on German television.

<i>Deutschland sucht den Superstar</i> (season 4) Season of television series

The fourth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar was aired on German channel RTL from February to May 2007. Mark Medlock, the season's winner, was awarded a contract with Sony BMG. The judges in this season were Dieter Bohlen, Heinz Henn, Anja Lukaseder. It was hosted by Marco Schreyl and Tooske Ragas. The viewers chose the contestant's fates as they were able to call for their favorite contestant. The voting results were published on 7 May. The winner got a 10-year contract and €100,000. Twenty percent went to the winner's manager who was chosen by the creators.

<i>Dieter: Der Film</i> 2006 film

Dieter: Der Film is a 2006 satirical animated film based on Nichts als die Wahrheit, the autobiography of German music producer Dieter Bohlen published in 2002. The entirety of the soundtrack, including the theme song "Gasoline", was written, composed, and produced by Bohlen. The film was broadcast for the first time on 4 March 2006 on RTL.

"Shooting Star" is a song by Modern Talking that was first released on the Dieter: Der Film soundtrack (2006), almost three years after the band's second split. The song was produced by Dieter Bohlen and consists of fragments of older Modern Talking songs set to a new melody. It features the falsetto choruses characteristic of the band and samples Louis Armstrong's voice in the beginning.

Das Supertalent is a German talent show, part of the internationally successful Got Talent franchise, presented by Lola Weippert and Chris Tall. Just like in all other versions of the franchise, auditions take place and the judges review their talent and then later the home audience votes in an election to deem who wins. The prize money is €50,000.

The eighth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar was broadcast on German channel RTL from 8 January to 7 May 2011. The winner got a recording contract with Universal Music Group. Nina Eichinger and Volker Neumüller were removed from the panel and were replaced by Fernanda Brandão and Patrick Nuo. Marco Schreyl returned as the host. DSDS has extended participation privileges to Austria and Switzerland. Pietro Lombardi won the competition.

The ninth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar was broadcast on German channel RTL from 7 January to 27 April 2012. Luca Hänni won the series. Jury members Fernanda Brandão and Patrick Nuo left DSDS and were replaced by Bruce Darnell and Cascada's Natalie Horler. As the winner, Luca Hänni received a recording contract with Universal Music Group and €500,000. Participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30 and living in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The auditions stage had 34 audition events in 33 cities across Germany, Austria or Switzerland. 35,401 participants auditioned for season 9. Marco Schreyl will not be returning to host season 10.

Bill and Tom Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel and Mateo from Culcha Candela became judges. Bruce Darnell and Natalie Horler both left after the completion of season 9. There was a trip to Curaçao during the recall. This is the first season in which three women reached the final four and the second season with a female final 2. After nine years, the show produced a female winner, since Elli Erl in season 2. Beatrice Egli won the show as the second female winner.
