Nanda Periyasamy (born 1975) is an Indian film director, screenwriter and actor who has worked in Tamil cinema.

Career

In 2002, Nanda Periyasamy was given the opportunity to direct a police thriller film titled Mahaa with Ajith Kumar, Sneha and Kiran Rathod in the lead roles. However, the project was shelved due to an accident suffered by Ajith. His first film, Oru Kalluriyin Kathai (2005) received average reviews and a lukewarm response at the box office. [1]

Periyasamy then briefly worked on the pre-production of a film titled Ardhanari, which was later shelved. [2]

In his second film, Maathi Yosi, he tackled sensitive issues like untouchability and casteism, and featured a predominantly new cast. The film received mixed reviews. [3] During a period of time, he also took on acting roles, notably appearing in Mayandi Kudumbathar (2009) alongside nine other directors. He returned to directing in 2013 with Azhagan Azhagi, before making the romantic comedy Vanna Jigina in 2015. [4]

Nanda Periyasamy was seen playing villain roles in the movies Sandakozhi 2 and Market Raja MBBS . Meanwhile, he emerged as the story writer of the Hindi movie Rashmi Rocket (2020), [5] starring Tapsee Pannu and directed by Akarsh Khurana. He directed Anandham Vilayadum Veedu , which released in 2021. [6]

It was a critically acclaimed film and launched the actress's first commecrical breakthrough in her acting career. Whereas, her first Telugu picture happened to be a Telugu/Tamil bilingual titled as Guppedu Manasu (1979) in Telugu and was simultaneously shot as Nool Veli in Tamil of the same year. She died of a cardiac arrest on 6 April 2011 in Chennai.

Maathi Yosi is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Nandha Periyasamy and produced by P. S. Sekar Reddy. The film stars Harish, Kanchivaram fame Shammu, and newcomers Gopal, Alex and Lokesh in the lead roles, while Ponvannan, Ravi Mariya, and G. M. Kumar play supporting roles. The music was composed by Guru Kalyan with cinematography by Vijay Armstrong and editing by Kola Bhaskar. The film released on 12 March 2010 and received mixed to negative reviews.

Anandhapurathu Veedu is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language supernatural mystery film co written and directed by Tamil television director Naga, who has directed serials like Marmadesam, Vidathu Karuppu and Chidambara Rahasiyam. This film, Naga's feature film debut, stars Nandha and Chaya Singh in lead roles along with child artist Aryan, making his debut. Written by Naga, Sharath Haridasan and Indra Soundar Rajan and produced by director S. Shankar's S Pictures, Anandhapurathu Veedu was released on 9 July 2010 to positive reviews.

The film stars Gautham Karthik, Cheran and Shivathmika Rajasekhar with a supporting cast including Saravanan, Vignesh, Daniel Balaji, Rajendran, and Soundararaja. The film was released in theatres on 24 December 2021.

The film is produced by GP Ravi Kumar, Chinta Gopala Krishna Reddy and Raja Senthil under GPRK Cinemas banner. The technical crew consists of M. Sukumar as the cinematographer and Vishal Chandrasekhar scoring the music and Guna handling the editing.
