The Nandi Award for Best Male Playback Singer was commissioned in the year 1977. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam holds the successful record of winning the most Nandi Awards in this category: 19. From 2004 onwards, this award was known as Ghantasala Venkateswararao Award for Best Male Playback Singer.

Laya is a former Indian actress and Kuchipudi dancer known for her work primarily in Telugu films alongside a few Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil films. Laya first appeared as a child actor in Bhadram Koduko (1992) and later she started working as a lead actress with Swayamvaram (1999). She is runner up in the Star 2000 contest conducted to introduce new talent and cast them in Paradesi movie and she also won Special Jury Nandi award for that movie. She won two Nandi Awards for Best Actress in consecutive years for Manoharam (2000) and Preminchu (2001).

Mallemala Shyam Prasad Reddy is an Indian film producer in the Telugu film industry. He won three Nandi Awards. He made his debut, as a producer film, with Thalambralu, in 1986. His father, M. S. Reddy, was a film writer and film producer. He produced immensely successful films like Ammoru and Arundhati.

Datla Venkata Suryanarayana Raju, commonly known as D. V. S. Raju, was a prominent Indian film producer in Telugu cinema. He played a pivotal role in the shifting of the Telugu film industry from Madras to Hyderabad. He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2001 and the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award in 1988 for his lifetime contributions to Telugu cinema.
