The winner is awarded a "Silver Nandi", "Sri Rajendra Prasad Gold Medal", cash award and a commendation certificate. Venkatesh has won the most Best Actor awards with five wins, followed by Mahesh Babu with four wins.

The Nandi Award for Best Male Playback Singer was commissioned in the year 1977. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam holds the successful record of winning the most Nandi Awards in this category: 19. From 2004 onwards, this award was known as Ghantasala Venkateswararao Award for Best Male Playback Singer.

Datla Venkata Suryanarayana Raju, better known as D. V. S. Raju was an Indian film producer known for his works in Telugu Cinema and Bollywood. He was instrumental in shifting the Telugu film industry from Chennai to Hyderabad. He was the recipient of the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award, the Bhishma Award and the Padma Shri for his contributions to Indian cinema.

Mallemala Sundara Rami Reddy, popularly known as M. S. Reddy and Mallemala, was an Indian film producer, director, screen writer and lyricist in Telugu cinema and a writer known for his contribution to Telugu Literature. He also served as President of the Telugu Film Producers Council, South Indian Film Writers Association, and Film Nagar Co-operative Housing Society, as well as Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation. He won two Nandi Awards.

He has received four National Film Awards, three Andhra Pradesh state Nandi Awards and two Filmfare Awards South.

Allani Sridhar is an Indian screenwriter and film director working mainly in Telugu cinema. He made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed 1988 biopic feature film, Komaram Bheem, in which he also acted. In 1990, the film won the then Andhra Pradesh state Nandi Award for best film on national integration.
