Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College, formerly Sikkim Government College, Tadong, established in 1977, [1] is the general degree college in Gangtok, the capital of the North Indian province of Sikkim. It offers undergraduate and post graduate courses in arts, commerce and sciences and is affiliated to Sikkim University. [2]
The college was established in September 1977 by an Act of State Legislature. The campus is spread over 22 acres in Tadong, 5 km from Gangtok, the Capital of Sikkim and has good road connectivity with different districts of Sikkim and also with the neighboring state of West Bengal. The College is affiliated to Sikkim University and is governed by Directorate of Higher Education, Human Resource Development Department, Government of Sikkim. [3] It offers 19 UG courses and 5 PG courses and is affiliated to Sikkim University. [4]

Sikkim is a state in Northeastern India. It borders the Tibet Autonomous Region of China in the north and northeast, Bhutan in the east, Province No. 1 of Nepal in the west and West Bengal in the south. Sikkim is also close to the Siliguri Corridor, which borders Bangladesh. Sikkim is the least populous and second smallest among the Indian states. Situated in the Eastern Himalaya, Sikkim is notable for its biodiversity, including alpine and subtropical climates, as well as being a host to Kangchenjunga, the highest peak in India and third highest on Earth. Sikkim's capital and largest city is Gangtok. Almost 35% of the state is covered by Khangchendzonga National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Tribhuvan University is a public university located in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. Established in 1959, TU is the oldest university in Nepal. In terms of enrollment, it is the 12th largest university in the world. The college offers 1000 undergraduate and 500 postgraduate programs across a wide range of disciplines. Additionally, the institution has 30 constituent campuses and over 600 affiliated colleges across the country. Because it is government-funded, the tuition fees are less expensive than those of private (affiliated) college campuses.
Gangtok is a city, municipality, the capital and the largest populated place of the Indian state of Sikkim. It is also the headquarters of the Gangtok District. Formerly, the University was well known by Vinayaka Missions Sikkim University but now the name has been amended to Sikkim Professional University as per The Vinayaka Missions Sikkim University (Amendment) Act, 2020;.
Khangchendzonga State University is a new government state university in Gangtok, Sikkim. The university was established in 2018 as Sikkim State University under The Sikkim State University Act, 2003. In 2021, it was renamed as Khangchendzonga State University vide Act number 16 of 2021 passed by the Sikkim State Assembly. This university is actually named after Mount Khangchendzonga, highest mountain peak of the India. It offers postgraduate degree in Nepali, and Sanskrit. This university is also recognized by the University Grants Commission, India.
