Narayan Deka is a Bharatiya Janata Party politician from Assam. He was elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly from Barkhetry constituency in 2016. [1] [2] [3] He defeated Diganta Barman (Indian National Congress),with a margin of approximately 9000 votes. However he lost to Diganta in 2021. [4]
Narayan Deka is the founder and chairman of International School Guwahati. [5]
He is currently appointed the chairman of GMDA (Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority). [6]

Prof Bhabananda Deka was a pioneer Assam economist and author who conducted novel research on the economy of the far eastern part of India. The People's Consultative Group (PCG) was a citizen's group in Assam,India,comprising 11 members and established by the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) on September 8,2005. Its objective was to initiate the peace talk process as mediator between the central government and ULFA. The PCG was dissolved by ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa in February 2011. ULFA continued the peace talk process without the PCG on 10 February 2011 in New Delhi.

On 9 July 2012,in Guwahati city,the capital city of Assam,an Indian state,a teenage girl was allegedly molested and manhandled by a crowd of approximately 30 men outside a bar,many of whom were subsequently arrested based on video footage of the event. A local TV journalist from News Live was accused of instigating the mob and was arrested on 20 July 2012. Investigations are ongoing.
