Nasrin Pillane

Nasrin Pillane (born in Balaka), is a Malawian politician. She was a Member of Parliament for Balaka West constituency in Malawi under the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ticket. [1] In 2013 she announced that she was leaving the DPP to join the United Democratic Front (UDF). [2]

The former first lady said that she would stand for parliament and she chose Pillane's constituency as an independent. [3] Patricia Shanil Muluzi decided to use her birth name. In 2014, Dzimbiri was elected to the National Assembly of Malawi, representing Balaka West, as an independent candidate, defeating five other candidates for the seat. [4] She was sworn into office on 9 June 2014 at the New Parliament Building in Lilongwe. [4]

Atupele Muluzi is a Malawian politician, businessman and was a Member of Parliament for Machinga North East constituency from 2004 until May 27, 2019. He is also the President of the United Democratic Front and was a presidential candidate during the 2019 election. He was a running mate in the 2020 presidential elections, on a coalition ticket with incumbent President Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party. Patricia Shanil Dzimbiri was a Malawian politician, teacher, and First Lady of Malawi from 1999 until 2004 as the then-wife of former President Bakili Muluzi. She later represented the Balaka West Constituency in the National Assembly of Malawi from 2014 to 2019.

Joana Ntaja was a Malawian politician and the first female mayor of Zomba, Malawi's oldest city, between July 2014 and March 2015. She was affiliated to the Democratic Progress Party.
