Nasser bin Zayed Al Nahyan (died 2 June 2008) was an Emirati royal and a member of the Al Nahyan family. He was killed in a helicopter crash at age 41.
Sheikh Nasser was a son of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding president of the United Arab Emirates. [1] [2] His mother was Sheikha Amna bint Salah Al Badi, who is from the Bedouin branch of the Dhawahir tribe. [3] He had one full-brother, Sheikh Isa. [3] [4]
Sheikh Nasser was a security officer, working in the royal bodyguard's office. [3] He was also the chairman of the Abu Dhabi planning and economy department. [5]
Nasser bin Zayed's son, Ahmed bin Nasser, attended Abu Dhabi Police College from which he graduated in 2010. [6]
Sheikh Nasser died in a helicopter crash off the coast of Abu Dhabi on 2 June 2008. [3] [7] [8] Funeral prayers for him and others killed in the accident were performed at the Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Mosque in Al Bateen. [9] He was buried at the burial ground in Al Bateen in Abu Dhabi on 3 June 2008. [10] [11]

Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was an Emirati royal, politician, philanthropist and the founder of the United Arab Emirates. Zayed served as the governor of Eastern Region from 1946 until he succeeded Sheikh Shakhbut as the ruler of Abu Dhabi in 1966, and then as the first president of the United Arab Emirates while he retained his position as Abu Dhabi's ruler from 1971 until his death in 2004. He is revered in the United Arab Emirates as the Waalid al-Ummah, credited for being the principal driving force behind uniting seven emirates.

The House of Nahyan are one of the six ruling families of the United Arab Emirates, and are based in the capital Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
