The National Charity League Inc. (NCL) is a Costa Mesa, California-based national non-profit organization designed to encourage community service and volunteering opportunities for mothers and their daughters in grades 7-12. Founded in 1925 and incorporated in 1958, the group focuses on community service, leadership development and cultural experiences. [2]

History

NCL was established in 1925 in Los Angeles, California as "The Charity League". [4] It was originally founded as a women's organization in support of the American Red Cross. [5] In 1938 the daughters of the women formed their own group, called the Ticktockers. [1] In 1947, both groups united and started calling themselves the National Charity League. [1] In 1958, the NCL was reorganized and was incorporated. [6]

Philanthropic activity

The individual NCL chapters partner with local charities to volunteer and hold fundraisers to support the charities. [7] [5] [1] [2] The NCL is designed for mothers and their daughters, students in grades 7-12, to volunteer together. [1]

The City of Fruita is a Home Rule Municipality located in western Mesa County, Colorado, United States. Fruita is part of the Grand Junction, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area and within the Grand Valley. The geography is identified by the bordering Colorado River on the southern edge of town, the Uncompahgre Plateau known for its pinyon-juniper landscape, and the Book Cliffs range on the northern edge of the Grand Valley. The population was 12,646 at the 2010 census. Originally home to the Ute people, white farmers settled the town after founder William Pabor in 1884. Ten years later, Fruita was incorporated.

Knots of Love is a non-profit organization based in Costa Mesa, California. The organization donates caps, scarves and blankets to cancer patients and others with life-threatening illnesses. Knots of Love has donated over 350,000 handmade caps to patients at cancer treatment centers, infusion centers, hospitals and oncology offices.
