National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP 2016) is government policy approved by Union Cabinet on 15 June, 2016. [1] The NCAP 2016 covers the broad policy areas, such as Regional connectivity, Safety, Air Transport Operations, 5/20 Requirement for International Operations, Bilateral traffic rights, Fiscal Support, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul, Air-cargo, Aeronautical 'Make in India'. [2] [3] [4] The UDAN Scheme which was launched on April 27, 2017 by PM Narendra Modi, is a key component of the National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP). [5] [6]

Deccan Charters is an aviation company based in Bengaluru, India that operates helicopter and fixed-wing charter services. Its main base is HAL Bangalore International Airport. Deccan Technical Services, the maintenance unit of Deccan Charters, maintains helicopters on behalf of 50 Indian corporates such as Reliance Industries and Essar Group. Pondicherry Airport Airport in Pondicherry, India

Pondicherry Airport is a regional airport located at Lawspet in Puducherry, a Union territory of India. It is situated 8.1 km from the international community of Auroville. The airport has scheduled flights and operations of the local flying training school. In 2007, the Puducherry Government decided to expand the airport to accommodate larger aircraft and commissioned a new terminal building. The new terminal was inaugurated on 18 January 2013 with the arrival of a SpiceJet flight from Bengaluru. After a gap of three years, the airport was operationalised again under the UDAN scheme in August 2017 with a daily flight to Hyderabad.

Hindan Air Force Station Airport in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh

Air Force Station Hindan is an Indian Air Force base under the Western Air Command (WAC). It is the biggest and largest air base in Asia. Its area measured 14 km rounded and 55 square kilometres (21 sq mi). This base celebrates Air Force Day on 8 October. It is located near Loni Ghaziabad in the state of Uttar Pradesh in the National Capital Region on the outskirts of Delhi, close to the Hindan River. Starting 2006, the annual Air Force Day Parade venue was shifted from Palam Airport to Hindan. There is one runway, aligned east–west (09-27), of 9,000 feet (2,700 m) length x 150 feet (46 m) width. The military airbase serves as the home of the IAF C-17 Globemaster and the IAF C-130J Super Hercules, the backbone of Strategic Heavy Air Lift division of the Indian Air Force. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) operates a civil enclave at Hindan as part of the government's Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS).

Aviation in India, broadly divided into military and civil aviation, is the fastest-growing aviation market in the world according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The hub of the nation's aviation manufacturing industry is at Bangalore which has a 65% share of this economic sector since 1924. The government's UDAN is driving the growth of civil aviation and aviation infrastructure in India.

Civil aviation in India, the world's third-largest civil aviation market as of 2020, traces its origin back to 1911, when the first commercial civil aviation flight took off from a polo ground in Allahabad carrying mail across the Yamuna river to Naini.

UDAN Indian airport development plan

Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik, known by its acronym UDAN is a regional airport development program of the Government of India and part of the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) of upgrading under-serviced air routes. Its goal is to make air travel affordable and widespread, to boost inclusive national economic development, job growth and air transport infrastructure development of all regions and states of India. At the beginning of the scheme, out of total 486 airports, 406 were participating under-serviced airports, 27 were well-served airports out of 97 non-RCS airports and 12 were operational airports out of 18 participating under-served regional operational airports with regular fixed-wing scheduled flights. UDAN scheme will add to this number by expediting the development and operationalisation of India's potential-target of nearly 425 unserved, under-served, and mostly underdeveloped regional airports with regular scheduled flights. However, there are several issues and criticisms such as poor infrastructure, dominance by larger airlines and degradation of regional airlines, slow implementation that plague this scheme.

Gurugram Airstrip, also Bhondsi Airstrip and Silokhera Airstrip, is an airstrip located between Silokhera and Bhondsi villages, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) south of Gurugram city center, in Haryana state of India.

Fly Hornbill

Fly Hornbill was a planned Indian Regional airline to be based in Guwahati.The airline was founded in 2016 and planned to start operations in early 2017 to provide air connectivity to North-Eastern destinations in India in place of Air India's subsidiary Alliance Air. However, as of September 2017 operations are yet to begin and any aircraft is yet to be acquired. The airline was seeking approvals from India's aviation regulator DGCA to start operations. The airline has also won the rights to operate flights on many Northeastern routes under the UDAN-RCS scheme. The airline however did not start operations and appears to have shutdown.

Star Air is an Indian commuter airline based at Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore, Karnataka. It started operations in January 2019, offering flights within Karnataka state as well as to neighboring Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, as part of the Central Government's UDAN scheme. The airline makes use of Embraer 145 LRs for its services.

Pinnacle Air is an Indian charter airline based in Delhi. It was founded in 2004, and operations only began in the year 2008. The airline operates passenger charters to destinations across the country.

Hindon Airport Domestic airport in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India

Hindon Airport, also spelled Hindan Airport, is a civil enclave in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, operated by the Airports Authority of India at Hindan Air Force Station of the Indian Air Force. It is the second commercial airport in the Delhi NCR after Indira Gandhi International Airport The airport was primarily built to handle flights operating under the Government's regional connectivity scheme and hence reducing the burden of regional flights from Delhi's main airport. As of 2019, there are two airlines operating regional flights from the airport.

Sarsawa Airport, also known as Saharanpur Airport, is an upcoming civil enclave at the Indian Air Force's Sarsawa Air Force Station, in Saharanpur district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The civil terminal of airport will be built at 20 km away from Saharanpur and 2.5 km away from Sarsawa.
