The National Indigenous Music Awards 2012 are the 9th annual National Indigenous Music Awards.

Hall of Fame Inductees

Jimmy Little (aka Dr James Oswald Little) (1 March 1937 – 2 April 2012) was an Australian Aboriginal musician, actor and teacher from the Yorta Yorta people and was raised on the Cummeragunja Reserve. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1999, Little won the ARIA Award for Best Adult Contemporary Album and was inducted into he ARIA Hall of Fame.

Sunrize Band are a rock band from the remote community of Maningrida in the Arnhem Land. They were the first band signed to Triple J's record label.

Lajamanu Teenage Band are a rock band from Lajamanu. Their songs are sung in Warlpiri and English and at the ARIA Music Awards of 1999, the band were nominated for the ARIA Award for Best World Music Album.

Thelma Plum, born on 21 December 1994 is a Gamilaraay woman [6] from Delungra. [7] Plum uploaded the songs "Blackbird" and "Father Said" onto Triple J Unearthed in May 2012. [8]

The Preatures

The Preatures are an Australian band from Sydney. The band was formed in 2010 and features Isabella 'Izzi' Manfredi on vocals/keyboards, Jack Moffitt (guitar), Thomas Champion (bass) and Luke Davison (drums). Gideon Bensen was a member of the band until 2016. In 2013, the band won the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition with their song "Is This How You Feel?".

Thelma Amelina Plumbe, known professionally as Thelma Plum, is an Aboriginal Australian singer-songwriter-guitarist from Delungra, New South Wales. Her debut album, Better in Blak, was released in July 2019 and peaked at No. 4 on the ARIA Albums Chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2019 she won Best Cover Art for Emilie Pfitzner's work.

Meg Mac

Megan Sullivan McInerney, known by her stage name Meg Mac, is an Australian singer-songwriter and musician. She signed to littleBIGMAN records in 2014, locally, and 300 Entertainment in United States.

A.B. Original is an Australian hip hop duo made up of Briggs and Trials. A.B. Original stands for Always Black, Original. Both members are Indigenous Australians; Briggs is a Yorta Yorta man and Trials is Ngarrindjeri. Their music is overtly political and has been described as "angry, polemical, brutally frank and meant to inspire a response, good or bad".

Danzal Baker, known professionally as Baker Boy, is an Aboriginal Australian rapper, dancer, artist, and actor. A Yolngu man, Baker Boy is known for performing original hip-hop songs incorporating both English and Yolŋu Matha.
