The National Sports Council (NSC) is the national overseer of the control authorities of 41 different sports in Bangladesh. It is responsible to the Bangladesh Ministry of Youth and Sports and is based in Purana Paltan, Dhaka. [1] [2] [3] [4]
After the Bangladesh Liberation War, the Bangladesh Sports Control Board was formed in 1972. In 1974 it became the National Sports Council. [5] Kazi Anisur Rahman was the first secretary of the National Sports Council from 9 February 1972 to 31 March 1975. [6]
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a major political party in Bangladesh. It was founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman, after the presidential election of 1978, with a view of uniting people with a nationalist ideology. Following Rahman's assassination in 1981, his widow, Khaleda Zia, took over leadership of the party and presided as chairperson until her imprisonment, in 2018. Since then, Tarique Rahman, the son of Rahman and Zia, has served as acting chairperson and has run the affairs of the party from London.
The Bangladesh national football team is the national recognised football team of Bangladesh and is controlled by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). It is a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) since 1973 and of FIFA since 1974, even though the Bangladesh Football Federation was first founded in 1972. Bangladesh was elected as a member of the AFC Executive Committee in 1982–1986 and 1998–2002. The current Executive Committee was elected democratically, under an AFC approved constitution and direct supervision of FIFA & AFC, in October 2020.
Muktijoddha Sangsad KC is a Bangladeshi professional football club based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The club plays in the Bangladesh Championship League, the second level of Bangladeshi football league system, as they suffered relegation from the Premier League in 2022–23 for the first time since the inception of the Premier League in 2007.
Kazi Md. Salahuddin is a Bangladeshi former football player currently serving as the president of South Asian Football Federation and Bangladesh Football Federation. He was a member of the Shadhin Bangla Football Team, which played across India to raise awareness about the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. He played for and captained the Bangladesh national team, retiring in 1983. Salahuddin is the first football player from the country to play abroad in the professional league in Hong Kong and is considered to be Bangladsh's first professional sports athlete.

The Bangladesh Awami Jubo League commonly known as the Jubo League, is the first youth organization of Bangladesh founded by Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani. It is the youth wing of Bangladesh Awami League. Jubo league's current chairman is Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and General Secretary is Md Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil.
Abahani Limited Dhaka, also referred as Dhaka Abahani or Abahani Limited, is a Bangladeshi professional football club based in the Dhanmondi area of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The club currently competes in the Bangladesh Premier League, the top flight of Bangladeshi Football.
Sheikh Russel KC is a professional football club based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Founded in 1995, the club is currently competing in the Bangladesh Premier League. They won Federation Cup in 2012, which is club's first major title. The club also won their maiden Bangladesh Premier League title in the season 2012–13. Sayem Sobhan Anvir, managing director of Bashundhara Group, is the chairman of Sheikh Russel KC. The club was based at the Sylhet District Stadium until 2021 when they moved to their present home venue, the Bashundhara Kings Arena.
Tofail Ahmed is a Bangladeshi politician. He is a 7-term Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Bhola-1, Bhola-2 and Bakerganj-1 constituencies since 1973. Previously he served as the Minister of Commerce and Minister of Industries of the Government of Bangladesh.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is the government ministry of Bangladesh. The Ministry governs the associations like National Sports Council( NSC), Bangladesh Olympic Association( BOA), Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan( BKSP), and the coalitions and Associations combined under the NSC. The ministry comes forward to the associations with guidelines, programs, fiscal supports and necessary nonsupervisory advice. Ministry of Youth and Sports also works as guardian to the Department of Youth Development which is the only enforcing agency of government programs and programmes for the youth and has services in 64 sections and 476 sub sections, and 60 institutional training centers throughout the country.
The 2020–21 Federation Cup was the 32nd edition of the tournament, the main domestic annual club football competition in Bangladesh organized by Bangladesh Football Federation. The 13 participants is competing in the tournament. The tournament has started on 22 December 2020. The winner of the tournament will earn the slot of playing Qualifying play-off of 2022 AFC Cup.
The 2021–22 Dhaka Second Division Football League, also known as Bashundhara Group Second Division Football League for sponsorship reasons. A total of 18 teams, divided into two groups of nine teams, participating in the league. The winner of the league is promoted to Senior Division League.

The 2022–23 Independence Cup, also known as Bashundhara Group Independence Cup 2022 due to sponsorship from Bashundhara Group. It was the 12th edition of the Independence Cup, the oldest official club football tournament in Bangladesh. A total of 16 teams were contested in the tournament including two coming through qualifying round.
Mohamed Mohsin is a retired Bangladeshi footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers to play for the Bangladesh national team. He has captained his country and also clubs like Mohammedan SC, Abahani Limited Dhaka and Muktijoddha Sangsad KC.
