National Water Resources Institute is the Nigerian research institution responsible for the training of water resources engineers and research on different issues in the water sector. [1] [2] The national research institute is situated in Kaduna State, Nigeria. [3]

Background

The institute was established under the National Water Resources Institute Act, Cap N83 LFN 2004. [4] Professor Emmanuel Adanu has been the Director General of the Institute from 2015. His tenure will end in 2025. [5] In 2018, a three-member committee was set up by the Minister for Water Resources, Suleiman Hussein Adamu, to assess the effects of flood in Jigawa State. [6]

In 2019, the Nigerian Defence Academy signed an MOU with the National Water Resources Institute for an exchange of scholars and joint research on water resources and its various applications. [7]

In 2021, WaterAid partnered with the National Water Resources Institute for training and sanitation programs in the country. [8]

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE) in Delta State, Nigeria was established and approved during the Federal Executive Council meeting of 14 March 2007 and admitted its first set of undergraduates in 2008.

Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) is located in Effurun, Delta State, Nigeria. It was established in 1973 by the federal government of Nigeria as a prerequisite for the membership in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to train indigenous middle-level manpower to meet the labour force demands of the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and the West African subregion. The National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) is a research institute in Nigeria that was established in 1924 and has the mandate to conduct research into how to ably identify, treat and control animal diseases as well as the development of vaccines for such training and the provision of support services to livestock and poultry farmers. The institute is under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The chief executive is Maryam Muhammad, a veterinary doctor with research interests in the molecular epidemiology of Salmonella in poultry, public health and environment and development.
