Belgaum is a city in the Indian state of Karnataka located in its northern part along the Western Ghats. It is the administrative headquarters of the eponymous Belgaum division and Belgaum district. The Government of Karnataka has proposed making Belgaum the second capital of Karnataka, hence a second state administrative building Suvarna Vidhana Soudha was inaugurated on 11 October 2012.

The Upper Krishna Project (UKP) is an irrigation project across the Krishna River to provide irrigation to the drought-prone areas of Bijapur, Bagalkot, Gulbarga, Yadgir and Raichur districts in the state of Karnataka in south India. There are plans to build a new airport for Bellary, a city in the Indian state of Karnataka. As of March 2020, the survey work has been started. The runway at the existing Bellary Airport is too short and narrow, and there is no room for its expansion. The new airport will be erected roughly 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) northeast of Bellary, near the villages of Chaganur and Sirivaram. The area of the airport is around 900 acres. The new Ballari airport will be the 10th airport of Karnataka.
