Nawal Meniker (born 9 December 1997) is a French track and field athlete who competes in the high jump. [1]
She won the silver medal at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing in 2014, behind Yuliya Levchenko. [2] She won the silver medal behind Morgan Lake in Eskilstuna at the 2015 European Athletics Junior Championships. [3]
She began to be coached by Mickaël Hanany, based in El Paso, Texas in 2022. Meniker cleared a personal best indoors height of 1.92m in Aubiére, in February 2023. She then cleared a height of 1.93 outdoors in Tucson, Arizona in April 2023. [4] [5]
She won high jump in Division I at the 2023 European Athletics Team Championships in Silesia in June 2023 with a clearance of 1.92 metres. [6]
Making her World Championship debut in August 2023, she qualified for the high jump final at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest with a jump of 1.89 metres. [7] [8]
She competed in the high jump at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she qualified for the final and placed eleventh overall. [9]

She is a two-time world champion and double Olympic medallist who ranks as the joint third- highest female jumper of all time with her personal best of 2.08 m. She is the Croatian record holder in the event, and a former indoor world champion.

Mutaz Essa Barsham is a Qatari track and field athlete who competes in the high jump and is the former Olympic Champion. He is also the former World Champion and second highest jumper of all-time with a personal best of 2.43. He won gold at the 2017 World Championships in London, at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, as well as the 2022 World Championships in Eugene. At the Olympics, Barsham originally won the full set of medals with bronze at the London 2012 Summer Olympics, silver at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, and shared gold at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. In 2021, his bronze in the London 2012 Summer Olympics was promoted to silver in a three-way tie for second due to disqualification of the original gold medalist, leaving him with two silvers and a gold. His bronze at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics yet again completed his full set of Olympic medals. He was the Asian Indoor and World Junior champion in 2010, and won the high jump gold medals at the 2011 Asian Athletics Championships and 2011 Military World Games. He holds the Asian record in high jump.
Mariya Aleksandrovna Lasitskene is a Russian athlete who specialises in the high jump. She is the 2020 Olympic champion and three-time world champion. With her victory in Tokyo, Lasitskene became the fourth female high jumper in history to win gold at both the Olympic Games and the World Championships.
Brigetta LaShea Barrett became Beloved Promise is a former high jumper from the United States. Her biggest success is winning the silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the gold medal at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow. She retired in 2016 at the age of 25 before coming back in 2017.

The men's high jump competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was held at the Olympic Stadium between 14–16 August. Forty-four athletes from 28 nations competed. The event was won by Derek Drouin of Canada, the nation's first victory in the men's high jump since 1932. Drouin was the ninth man to win multiple medals in the high jump, after his 2012 bronze. Mutaz Essa Barshim, who had tied Drouin for bronze in 2012, was the tenth multiple medalist in the event. Thom Mark Gicquel is a French badminton player. Competing in the mixed doubles, he was able to reach the top 10 of the BWF world rankings with his partner Delphine Delrue. She won the gold medal in the 60 m hurdles at the 2022 World Indoor Championships, a silver medal at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships where she lowered the current French national record to 7.73 seconds, and the gold medal at the 2024 European Athletics Championships, where she established a new personal best, national record and championship record at 12.31 seconds. At the 2024 Summer Olympics, Samba-Mayela won a silver medal in the 100 m hurdles event.
