Kabale District is a district in the Western Region of Uganda. Kabale hosts the district headquarters. It was originally part of Kigezi District, before the districts of Rukungiri, Kanungu, Kisoro, Rubanda and Rukiga and were excised to form separate districts. Kabale is sometimes nicknamed "Kastone" as in the local language Rukiga, a "kabale" is a small stone.

In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, he was dropped from the cabinet and replaced by Agnes Akiror. He also served as the elected Member of Parliament representing Kabale Municipality from 2001 until 2011. During the 2011 national election cycle, he lost the Kabale Municipality parliamentary seat to Andrew Baryayanga, an independent politician, who is now the incumbent MP for the constituency.
Perez Ahabwe is a Ugandan economist and politician who was the State Minister for Local Government in Uganda from 16 February 2009 to 27 May 2011. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, he was dropped from the cabinet and replaced by Alex Onzima. He also served as the elected member of Parliament, representing Rubanda County East, Kabale District, from 2001 to 2011, before losing to Henry Musasizi in the 2011 general election. On 7 June 2019, Ahabwe was appointed by Monica Azuba Ntege, Uganda's Minister of Works and Transport as the Chairman of the newly inaugurated Uganda Airlines National Company Board of Directors.
Henry Banyenzaki is a Ugandan politician who served as the elected Member of Parliament for Rubanda County West, Kabale District. From 2011 to 2016, he served as the State Minister for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President in the Cabinet of Uganda.

She was a member of Public Accounts Committee and also a member of committee on Health in the 10th parliament of Uganda. She is also a member of the Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Social Protection (UPFSP). The forum was established to work for social protection, using advocacy, influence, oversight and monitoring, and representation.
Kyokuhairwa Kyaka Viccy, also known as Vicky Kyaka Kyokuhairwa, was a Ugandan politician in the eighth Parliament of Uganda representing Isingiro District. She was the first councillor for Bukanga in the early 90s.
Ninsiima Ronah Rita Is a Ugandan politician and journalist who was the women representative member of parliament for Kabale District in the 9th Parliament of Uganda. She beat former agriculture minister Hope Mwesigye who had represented the constituency since 1994 in the 2011 Uganda general elections on February 18 replacing her for the seat between 2011 to 2016. Rita was an independent candidate after losing the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries to Hope Mwesigye.
