As per the 2006 census, Neduvasal had a total population of 5030 with 2650 males and 2380 females.

The villages around Neduvasal are covered with picturesque coconut plantations. The town is home to the Lord Sri Nadiamman Temple, the Lord Padrakaliyamman Temple, and the Thiruvalluvar Temple.

Manora, 30 km east of Neduvasal, is an eight-story tower built by the Maratha King Serfoji II in 1814 to commemorate the victory of the British over Napoleon Bonaparte at Waterloo. From the top of the tower there is a panoramic view of the palm-fringed Bay of Bengal. The tower has also served as a lighthouse.

2013 Anti–Sri Lanka protests

The 2013 Anti–Sri Lanka protests are a series of student protests and agitations initiated by the Students Federation for Freedom of Tamil Eelam in Tamil Nadu, India, against war crimes committed against Sri Lankan Tamil people by Sri Lankan army during the Eelam War IV. The protesters demanded that the Government of India vote in support of a United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution censuring the Government of Sri Lanka for war crimes. Some radical groups even demanded the prosecution of the President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapakse for his role in the alleged genocide of Sri Lankan Tamils. Apart from college students, doctors, film personalities and employees of IT companies also participated in the protests.

The Kaveri delta coal-bed methane extraction project is a series of projects to extract methane gas and hydrocarbon from coal-bed by using hydraulic fracturing in the Kaveri river basin in Tamil Nadu, India. Mariyappan Thangavelu Indian Paralympic high jumper

Mariyappan Thangavelu is an Indian Paralympic high jumper. He represented India in the 2016 Summer Paralympic games held in Rio de Janeiro in the men's high jump T-42 category, winning the gold medal in the finals. He is India's first Paralympian gold medalist since 2004.

Suicide of S. Anitha

Shanmugam Anitha, was a student from Tamil Nadu, India. She scored 1176/1200 in the 12th standard exams in the Tamil Nadu State Board. This would have secured her a medical seat, if only the State Board marks had been considered for admission. In NEET-UG 2017, Anitha secured 12.33 percentile while she scored 86/720 marks. The minimum eligibility cut-off for making it into the merit list was 40 percentile for students in the reserved category.

Thoothukudi violence

Thoothukudi Massacre denotes events that took place on 22 and 23 May 2018 in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, India. The violence took place during an ongoing protest against proposed expansion of a copper smelter plant run by Sterlite Corporation in Thoothukudi town. Police opened fire on the protesters, killed 13 people and left 102 injured. Several policemen were also injured during the protests.
