Neelima Azeem (born 2 December 1958) [4] is an Indian actress, classical dancer, writer and the mother of actors Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. [5] [6] She is known in India for her roles in television shows.

Early life

Neelima Azeem's father was Anwar Azeem, a journalist and Urdu author from Bihar, and her mother, Khadija, was a relative of Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. [7] Azeem studied the Kathak form of Indian classical dance and was trained under Birju Maharaj and Munna Shukla. [5] [6] [8]

Career

Azeem appears in both Hindi-language movies and in television series, she also did many historical and drama movies, Phir Wahi Talash, Amrapali, The Sword of Tipu Sultan and Junoon.[ citation needed ] In 2014, she performed at the PanchTatva annual Kathak festival organized by Birju Maharaj's Kalashram at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan Campus in Mumbai. [5] She also worked in the Hindi movie Sadak opposite Deepak Tijori. [9]

Personal life

She married Pankaj Kapoor in the year 1979 but they later divorced. [10] Her son Shahid Kapoor is a Bollywood actor. [11] She later married Rajesh Khattar and had a son Ishaan Khatter who is also a Bollywood actor. [12]

Pandit Birju Maharaj was an Indian dancer, composer, singer, and exponent of the Lucknow "Kalka-Bindadin" Gharana of Kathak dance in India. He was a descendant of the Maharaj family of Kathak dancers, which includes his two uncles, Shambhu Maharaj and Lachhu Maharaj, and his father and guru, Acchan Maharaj. He also practised Hindustani classical music and was a vocalist. Chhota Sa Ghar is a 1996 Hindi-language drama-film directed and written by Kalpataru, produced by Sushil Kumar Agrawal and the music is composed by Rajesh Roshan. Other crew roles are played by the various actors and screenwriters. It is screenplayed by Keshav Rathod, while the dialogues are written by Brij Katyal.
