The Nepal Magazine was a weekly national magazine published by Kantipur Media Group in Kathmandu, which also published Kantipur and The Kathmandu Post . [6] The magazine focused on national socio-political matters of Nepal, with satirical pieces on current affairs and trends of the country, along with lighter stories of lifestyle and arts. [7] Nepal had the country's largest circulation for a weekly news-magazine, according to the official data released by Press Council Nepal in 2016. [8] Basanta Basnet was the Editor. [9] After the COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal, Kantipur media group stopped publishing Nepal Magazine along with its other publications. [10] [11]

History

Nepal Magazine was established in 2000 as a fortnightly magazine. It had been covering political issues along with photo story, movie review, celebrity gossips and literature. Its two notable annual publication are Plus 2 College Ranking [12] and Person of the year. [4] Nepal was generally regarded as leading and influential nepali magazines, along with Himal Khabarpatrika. [13]

Editors

The magazine has been under five editors so far, Vijay Kumar Pandey, Tirtha Koirala, Kishor Nepal, Prashant Aryal, Sudheer Sharma, Narayan Wagle and Basanta Basnet [Editor]. [14]

It is regarded as the most widely read newspaper in Nepal; according to an audience survey in 2016, over half of those who read newspapers in Nepal were readers of Kantipur, considerably more than any other newspapers. Kantipur is considered the paper of record in Nepal.

The Kathmandu Post is a major daily newspaper published in Nepal. Founded in February 1993 by Shyam Goenka, it is one of the largest English-language newspapers in the country. The newspaper is published by Kantipur Publications, the publishers of Nepal's largest selling newspaper, the Nepali-language Kantipur. Post is a member of the Asia News Network, an alliance of nineteen Asian newspapers. The Kathmandu Post is Nepal's first privately owned English broadsheet daily, and is Nepal's largest selling English language newspaper, with a daily circulation of 95,000 copies.

Bahun, also known as Hill Brahmins, are a Brahmin varna among the Khas of Nepal. They are Sub caste of the Kanyakubja Brahmin while their origins are from Kannauj and the Himalayan belt of South Asia. According to the 2011 Nepal census, Bahun is the second most populous group after Chhetri.

Loot is a 2012 Nepali crime thriller film that was directed and written by Nischal Basnet as his debut. The film was produced by Madhav Wagle and Narendra Maharjan with Princess Movies and Black Horse Pictures. The film features an ensemble cast including Saugat Malla, Dayahang Rai, Karma Shakya, Prateek Raj Neupane, Sushil Raj Pandey, Reecha Sharma, Srijana Subba, Praveen Khatiwada and Sushma Karki.

Vijay Kumar Pandey is a media personality of Nepali television. He hosts a program called Dishanirdesh.

The Dhobi Khola is a tributary of the Bagmati River which is almost entirely in Kathmandu District of Nepal. The river originates in Shivapuri Hill and Muhanpokhari, north of Kathmandu Valley, and is mostly fed by springs and rainfall. The Dhobi Khola's mouth is located at Bijuli Bazar where it merges with the Bagmati River.

Basanta Basnet is a Nepalese journalist and writer. He is an editor at Onlinekhabar, an online news portal. He started working at Online Khabar since 17 July 2022, after resigning from Shilapatra. Earlier, He worked at Kantipur (daily) as a political correspondent. He was also an editor at Nepal Magazine, which used to be published by Kantipur Publications.
