They played their home games at The Pit in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Lobos were led by first year head coach Craig Neal. They finished the season 27–7, 15–3 in Mountain West play to finish in second place. They were champions of the Mountain West tournament, their third consecutive conference tournament championship, to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the second round to Stanford.

The Pit is an indoor arena in Albuquerque, New Mexico, serving primarily as the home venue of the University of New Mexico Lobos basketball teams. The facility opened in 1966 as University Arena but gained the nickname "The Pit" due to its innovative subterranean design, with its playing floor 37 feet (11 m) below street level. The arena is located on the UNM South Campus and has a seating capacity of 15,411 for basketball and up to 13,480 for concerts, with 40 luxury suites and 365 club seats.
Santa Ana Star Field, formerly known as Lobo Field, is a baseball stadium located in Albuquerque, New Mexico that serves as the home of the University of New Mexico Lobos baseball team. Lobo Field had served as New Mexico's practice field as the Lobos played home games at Isotopes Park, home of the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes baseball team. On March 7, 2011, the University of New Mexico regents approved a $3 million renovation plan for Lobo Field.
Courtney Frerichs is an American middle-distance runner and steeplechase specialist from Nixa, Missouri, She is a three-time silver medalist in the 3000 meters steeplechase capturing silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, the 2017 World Championships in London and at the 2018 World (Continental) Cup in Ostrava. In 2021, she became the first American woman to run under nine-minutes in a women’s 3000-meters steeplechase event with a time of 8:57.77; establishing an American and Area record. She is a two-time Olympian making the US team in 2016 and 2020. In both of her Olympic Trials she finished second to US National Champion, Emma Coburn.

The Rams advanced to the championship game of the Mountain West women's basketball tournament, beating 11 seed San Jose State, and upsetting 3 seed Wyoming and 2 seed New Mexico, before falling short to 1 seed UNLV 75–65 in the championship. The Rams earned an invite to the 2022 WNIT, where they fell to Portland in the 1st round, 72–63.
