New York Festivals, are a collection of related annual arts and media awards based in New York City. [1] The awards include the New York Festivals Advertising Awards, "Advertising and Marketing Effectiveness" AME Awards, [2] [3] Bowery Awards, [4] [5] Global Awards, Radio Awards, [6] [7] TV & Film Awards [8] and MIDAS Awards. [9] They were established in 1957. [10]

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is a global event for those working in creative communications, advertising, and related fields. It is considered the largest gathering of the advertising and creative communications industry.

Portugal participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Todas as ruas do amor" written by Pedro Marques and Paulo Pereira. The song was performed by the group Flor-de-Lis. The Portuguese broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) organised the national final Festival da Canção 2009 in order to select the Portuguese entry for the 2009 contest in Moscow, Russia. The competition took place on 28 February 2009 where "Todas as ruas do amor" performed by Flor-de-Lis emerged as the winner after achieving the highest score following the combination of votes from twenty regional juries and a public televote.

Ron Assouline is a film director, screenwriter, creative director, producer, and a lecturer at the Sammy Ofer School of Communications at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC). Assouline is also the founder and owner of Filmind, a film and advertising firm. He has directed many films for museums around the world, but mainly in Israel, including Journey to Jerusalem, a 100 episode series, shown regularly at the Western Wall in Jerusalem and A Human Sanctuary, a historic drama film presented at the Shrine of the Book at the Israel Museum. Assouline has also produced and directed many television commercials, including those for Benjamin Netenyahu's 1996 election campaign and Ehud Barak's 1999 campaign.

Steve Babaeko is a Nigerian advertising and music executive, public advocate, founder of X3M Ideas, a Lagos-based digital advertising agency that was listed in 2017 as "one of Nigeria’s fastest growing communication agencies. He is also the founder/CEO of X3M Music, a record label that has as its marquee act, among others, Nigerian singer-songwriter Simi. He was on the 2018 jury of the New York Advertising Festival.

David Cowan is a prominent Silicon Valley venture capitalist, filmmaker, philanthropist, and company founder. He is in the Forbes Midas List Hall of Fame and has appeared on the Midas List 14 times since 2001. He co-founded three companies, including Verisign. He has invested in more than 29 companies that have gone on to IPO. He is also noted for his support of scientific skepticism and of the work of Richard Dawkins and as of 2022 a board member of Center for Inquiry.

The Skewer is a topical radio programme broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and as a podcast on BBC Sounds. Created and produced by Jon Holmes, the 15 or 30 minute episodes are a sound collage which combine topical soundbites with excerpts from popular culture, historical quotations and songs, often in unsettling or surreal ways.
