Newsted is an American heavy metal band formed in October 2012. The first lineup was led by Jason Newsted (former member of Metallica, Flotsam and Jetsam, and Voivod) on bass and lead vocals, along with drummer Jesus Mendez Jr., guitarist Jessie Farnsworth, [1] [2] with Staind guitarist Mike Mushok joining in 2013. [3] The band released the four-song EP Metal (recorded before Mushok had joined) on January 8, 2013, [4] and followed up with the full-length debut album Heavy Metal Music on August 6, 2013. [5] Guitarist Mushok stated that there were no plans for the band to regroup for any further touring or recording, explaining that Jason Newsted "shut down" the project in early 2014. [6] Newsted broke silence in 2016 to explain having been overwhelmed with projects. [7]

In April 2023, Newsted announced reactivating the band with a new show on May 20 at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. [8] The band, featuring new guitarist Humberto Perez replacing Mushok, played their first show since August 2013, on May 20, 2023, at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdalle, Florida, featuring 4 old Newsted songs, Metallica, Motörhead and Ted Nugent covers and debuting 12 new songs. [9]

St. Anger is the eighth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica, released on June 5, 2003. It was the last Metallica album released through Elektra Records and the final collaboration between Metallica and longtime producer Bob Rock, with whom the band had worked since 1990. This is also Metallica's only album as an official trio, as bassist Jason Newsted left the band prior to the recording sessions. Rock played bass in Newsted's place, and Robert Trujillo joined the band following its completion. Although he does not play on the album, Trujillo is credited in the liner notes and appears in photos with the band in the album's booklet.

He first rose to prominence as the bassist of crossover thrash band Suicidal Tendencies from 1989 to 1995, while also collaborating with Suicidal Tendencies frontman Mike Muir for funk metal supergroup Infectious Grooves. After leaving Suicidal Tendencies, he performed with Ozzy Osbourne, Jerry Cantrell, and heavy metal band Black Label Society. Trujillo joined Metallica in 2003 and is the band's longest-serving bassist. He was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Metallica in 2009.

Saint Asonia is a Canadian-American rock supergroup consisting of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Adam Gontier, lead guitarist Mike Mushok, bassist and backing vocalist Cale Gontier, and drummer Cody Watkins. In 2017, the band's original drummer, Rich Beddoe, left the band and was replaced by Mushok's Staind bandmate Sal Giancarelli, and one year later bassist and backing vocalist Corey Lowery left the band to join Seether and his place was taken by Gontier's cousin Cale Gontier. The band formed in Toronto, Canada in 2015 after Gontier's departure from Three Days Grace in 2013. Their second studio album, titled Flawed Design, was released on October 25, 2019. On January 26, 2020, Art of Dying drummer Cody Watkins became the new drummer for Saint Asonia replacing Sal Giancarelli.

Confessions of the Fallen is the eighth studio album by American rock band Staind. This is the band's first album in twelve years, marking the longest gap between studio albums to date. It was released on September 22, 2023. It is also the first album to feature new drummer Sal Giancarelli, who replaced original drummer Jon Wysocki following the latter's departure in 2011. It is the band's first album to be released from BMG.
