Next Star is a Romanian reality competition television series broadcast on the Romanian television station Antena 1. It debuted in 2013. The focus of the series was to discover singing talent in those aged 3 to 13 years. The top prize is 20,000 euros. [1] The series is presented by Dan Negru, and contestants are assessed by a jury of professionals. Famous performers from Romania and elsewhere occasionally take part to co-sing with the children.

The show was launched in 2013 and the first winner was Omar Arnaout, a Romanian of mixed Lebanese-Romanian origin. [2] In later seasons, children from other countries were qualified to participate to become "Next Star International". Also besides solo participants, children band were also allowed to take part in competition.

The jury

The original jury was composed of Pepe, CRBL, Alina Eremia and Dorian Popa. For 5 seasons the jury was composed of Pepe, Connect-R, Maria Cârneci, Lora and Vasile Muraru. [3] In the ninth season, the jury changed to be composed of Pepe, Lidia Buble and Dorian Popa.

They were replaced in season 4 by Patrizia Paglieri, Adrian Hădean and Florin Scripcă Starting with the 6th Season, the MasterChef panel has been replaced by chefs Răzvan Exarhu, Samuel le Torriellec and Liviu Popescu. Seventh season had the panel was once again replaced by Joseph Hadad, Cosmin Tudoran and Silviu Chelaru, former participant of the show.

Romania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "It's My Life" written by Cristian Faur. The song was performed by Cezar. The Romanian broadcaster Televiziunea Română (TVR) organised the national final Selecția Națională 2013 in order to select the Romanian entry for the 2013 contest in Malmö, Sweden. The national final consisted of three shows: two semi-finals on 23 and 24 February 2013, respectively, and a final on 9 March 2013. A total of thirty-two entries were selected and sixteen competed in each semi-final where six entries were selected to advance to the final. The twelve qualifiers competed in the final where "It's My Life" performed by Cezar was selected as the winner after scoring top marks from a seven-member jury panel and a public televote.

Penny Dreadful is a horror drama television series created for Showtime and Sky by John Logan, who also acts as executive producer alongside Sam Mendes. The show was originally pitched to several US and UK channels, and eventually landed with Showtime, with Sky Atlantic as co-producer. It premiered at the South by Southwest film festival on March 9 and began airing on television on April 28, 2014, on Showtime on Demand. The series premiered on Showtime in the United States on May 11, 2014, and on Sky Atlantic in the United Kingdom on May 20, 2014. After the third-season finale on June 19, 2016, series creator John Logan announced that Penny Dreadful had ended as the main story had reached its conclusion.

Popa first came into contact with gymnastics in her native Romania, where there is a long tradition in the sport, and there she had her early training. Now, she trains at the Spanish National Training Center (CARD), and is a part of the EGAD Los Cantos Alcorcon in Madrid. A member of the Spain women's national gymnastics team, she competed at the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2019 World Championships, as well as the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Andrei Tiberiu Maria, better known by his stage name Smiley, is a Romanian singer, songwriter, record producer, and internet vlogger. He was part of the band Simplu and since then he developed a solo career. With more than 1 million singles sold from 2001, certified gold, he is the best-selling male artist and the most successful pop star in Romania. In 2013, he won "Best Romanian Act" during the MTV Europe Music Awards held in Amsterdam.

Omar Arnaout Romanian-based musical artist (born 2000)

Omar Arnaout is a Romania-based singer. He was the winner of the first season of Next Star, a Romanian singing contest broadcast on Antena 1, in 2013.

Lala Band were a Romanian pop-rock band formed by MediaPro Music in Bucharest in 2011. The group was formed through a casting system held by MediaPro Music in February 2011 and 21 people were chosen to form Lala Band.
