Ngara town is small with an estimated population of 8,000 to 10,000 people. The international community is small with the Anglican Church of Tanzania, Diocese of Kagera, and four NGOs employing a handful of expatriate staff. Occasionally, there are also visiting staff, consultants and missionaries.
Market day in Ngara town is Saturday. Vendors come from surrounding villages to sell their seasonal produce. During the week, the market is open, but the availability of produce is more limited. Most basic items are available. In season, fruits and vegetables include tomatoes, carrots, eggplant, spinach, green peppers, pineapple, papaya, mango and oranges. Major staple food crops such as maize, bananas, rice, potatoes, beans and milled products such as wheat flour and sugar are readily obtainable in Ngara.

The Shubi are a Bantu ethnic and linguistic group based in Ngara District of Kagera Region, Tanzania; that speak the Shubi language. In 1987 the Shubi population was estimated to number 153,000. They were traditionally hunters but now are predominantly agriculturalists.

Such a journey is tedious, hence the name. In the 2017 government plans, 41% of Kirushya's population had clean water.
Missenyi District is one of the eight districts of the Kagera Region of Tanzania. The district was created in 2007, separating from Bukoba District. It is bordered to the north by Uganda, to the east by Bukoba Rural District, to the south by Karagwe District and to the west by Kyerwa District.
Rusumo is a town in northwestern Tanzania, at the border with Rwanda. It sits across the Kagera River from Rusumo, Rwanda.
