Simo "Simuna" Häyhä was a Finnish military sniper in the Second World War during the 1939–1940 Winter War against the Soviet Union. He used a Finnish-produced M/28-30, a variant of the Mosin–Nagant rifle, and a Suomi KP/-31 submachine gun. Häyhä is believed to have killed over 500 men during the Winter War, the highest number of sniper kills in any major war.

Martti Sakari Vainio is a Finnish former long-distance runner. In Finland he is recognized as the last of the great runners of the famous "V-line", the previous ones being Juha Väätäinen, Lasse Virén, and Pekka Vasala. Each of them won at least one gold medal either at the Summer Olympics or the European Athletics Championships in the 1970s. Vainio's accomplishments are tarnished though, for testing positive for PEDs on at least two occasions. One of those events was the 1984 Olympic Games where he was disqualified and stripped of his medal and later suspended from sport.
Morten Jensen is a Danish former track and field athlete. He specialised in long jump and also competed in the 100 metres and 200 metres sprints. He holds the Danish record in the long jump and formerly held the national records in the 100 metres and indoor 200 metres.

Yahya Hassan Ibrahim Habeeb is a Saudi Arabian track and field athlete who specialises in sprinting events. He was the gold medallist over 100 metres at the 2006 Asian Games and represented Saudi Arabia at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics. His best for the distance is 10.28 seconds.
The Helsinki Grand Prix was an annual one-day outdoor track and field meeting held at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, Finland. Established in 1959, it was originally organised by a local athletics club, Helsingin Kisa-Veikot (HKV). It continued in this format, with Apu magazine a key sponsor, for nearly three decades. In 1987, HKV came to an agreement where the Finnish Amateur Athletic Association took on the operating costs of the competition. The Finnish Association ceased this arrangement in 1992, causing the cancellation of the 1993 meeting due to financial difficulties.
