Nick Gaffaney is a professional drummer, songwriter and singer from New Zealand, and is best known for the band Cairo Knife Fight.
Gaffaney began his career as a session and recording artist, having played drums for Dimmer, Goldenhorse, Hollie Smith and has recorded and performed with songwriters such as Anika Moa, Jan Hellriegel, Leila Adu and Godfrey de Grut; Hip Hop/Roots artists Scribe, Fat Freddy's Drop, Solaa, King Kapisi, Nuvonesia, and Sangha; Jazz musicians Mark de Clive-Lowe, Joel Haines, The New Loungehead and Jeff Henderson. As a freelance percussionist, Gaffaney has worked extensively with Kog Transmissions for live industrial groups such as Avotor and created electro-pop versions of Head Like a Hole songs with Joost Langveld. [4]
In 2001, Gaffaney was invited to an Artist-in-residence position at the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts in Ahmedabad, India. The position involved studying South Indian folk music, writing soundtracks for a series of dance performances by the internationally renown Darpana dance group. [4] [5]
Gaffaney has worked on film soundtracks for The Truth about Demons and Fracture with composer Victoria Kelly. [6] [7]

In 2015, Cairo Knife Fight's album The Colossus was nominated by the New Zealand Music Awards for Best Rock Album. The Colossus was also nominated in 2016 for the Taite Music Prize. [8]

Stef Broks is a Dutch drummer best known for his work with Textures. He is known for playing rock and metal with a fusion touch and an extensive use of polyrhythms. He also had success with the fusion band Exivious, playing on their first album. However, after the band reformed in 2011 and became a full-time band, Broks left citing that he simply couldn't find reasonable time to commit to two full-time bands. He was replaced by Yuma van Eekelen, who left Pestilence to join Exivious. Broks currently teaches at the Herman Brood Academy and Het Popstation in Utrecht and the Metal Factory in Eindhoven.
Based on a True Story is the first studio album by New Zealand group Fat Freddy's Drop. It was recorded in Wellington and released on the band's own label, The Drop. Based on a True Story utilized the band's trademark dub, reggae, soul and funk influenced sound, and has been successful both in terms of sales and of critical reception. The album followed years of regular touring within New Zealand, a live album, several singles, and appearances on numerous compilation albums in New Zealand and internationally.

He plays a large variety of music and can be seen playing rock with Stoppok and The Ron Spielman Trio, jazz with The Benny Greb Brass Band and Sabri Tulug Tirpan, funk with Jerobeam, fusion with the NDR Big Band on their Frank Zappa Project, with 3erGezimmeR and Wayne Krantz, and acoustic punk with Strom & Wasser. He has also performed at the Modern Drummer Festival 2010 and at many clinics and drum festivals around the world. Greb is endorsed by Sonor Drums and has his signature snare, Remo Drum Heads, Vic Firth, and by Meinl Percussion. He developed with Meinl a signature line of Byzance Vintage Series cymbals including the "Sand Ride" and "Sand Hats," both known for their sandblasted finishes. In 2012, Meinl introduced new "Sand Crash" and "Sand Crash/Ride" cymbals to the Byzance Vintage lineup. Furthermore, Benny has a set of trash hats that he uses on the right side of his kit.
