Nicola Ascoli (born 11 September 1979) is an Italian football coach and a former player who played as a defender. He is the head coach of Imperia. He spent most of his career playing in Serie B and Serie C.

Coaching career

In 2012, Ascoli became the director of sport at Serie D side Asti and joined the coaching staff under Enrico Pasquali after obtaining his coaching license. [1] [2]

On 14 October 2021, he was appointed head coach of Imperia in Serie D. [3]

Personal life

Ascoli is married to Alessandra Sinopoli, sister-in-law of Juventus and Italy midfielder Claudio Marchisio, his teammate for a season at Empoli. [4] [1] The couple have a daughter.[ citation needed ]

The season was scheduled to run from 23 August 2019 to 14 May 2020, though on 9 March 2020, the Italian government halted the league until 3 April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy. Serie B did not resume play on this date. On 18 May, it was announced that Italian football would be suspended until 14 June. On 28 May, it was announced that Serie B would resume starting from 20 June.

The 2020–21 Serie B was the 89th season of the Serie B since its establishment in 1929. It started on 25 September 2020 and ended on 10 May 2021.

The 2022–23 Serie B was the 91st season of the Serie B since its establishment in 1929.
