The Nigerian Gas Association is the professional body responsible for the promotion and protection of the interests of the gas industry in Nigeria.
Formed in 1999, the NGA's initial membership came from the primary gas production and utilization companies in Nigeria. The earliest members include the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), Chevron Nigeria Limited, the Nigerian Gas Company (NGC), Elf Petroleum, Mobil Producing Nigeria, the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) and Conoco Energy Nigeria Limited.
The NGA has since grown to encompass the entire gamut of stakeholders and operators in the Nigerian gas industry – from gas producers, to transmitters, gas industry service providers, students, members of the academia and government. The association presently has over 40 corporate members, 800 individual professional industry members, and more than 100 student members. The NGA is also a full chartered member of the International Gas Union (IGU), representing Nigeria on the Council of the global gas body.

The Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) is run by a council of elected officers who serve for a single term of two years. The Association’s elections usually hold just before the commencement of its Annual General Meeting (AGM). The Association also has a functional secretariat that is staffed by competent administrative personnel to provide members and non-members with information and other support activities as required.

Business leaders and other prespected parties in the Nigerian gas business/industry are usually invited to the NGA Business Fora, where they speak and share their thoughts on agreed themes. The quarterly fora are free to all NGA members and serve as a pint for the gathering of the latest thoughts on the Nigerian gas industry.
Held every two years, the NGA Conference and Exhibition serve as the highlights of the NGA's calendar. The events are usually attended by experts, members of the academia from within and outside Nigeria. The theme for the conference is set from the end of the previous conference, and papers are delivered by subject-matter experts. The event is also characterised by syndicate sessions and an exhibition, where all gas industry players exhibit their products, services and projects to attendees.
To be launched in June 2010, The NGA Training Series are a set of training programmes organized by the NGA to address certain skill and competency gaps identified in the Nigerian gas industry. The training programmes will be contextualised to fit and meet with the requirements of the Nigerian market, and will prosecuted by both professional experts with real industry experience. [1]
Process and Industrial Developments Ltd (P&ID) entered into a 20-year contract with the Nigerian government for natural gas supply and processing. Nigeria provided the gas, which PI&D refined so that it could be used to power the Nigerian electrical grid. PI&D could keep valuable byproducts for its own use. In 2012, PI&D demanded arbitration in London, alleging that Nigeria had not supplied the agreed quantity of gas or to construct the infrastructure it had agreed to build. The arbitral tribunal awarded damages of more than £4.8 billion. [2] The compensation was valued £8.15 billion with interest when the case was heard in London High Court in December 2022. [3]

Nigeria is the second largest oil and gas producer in Africa. Crude oil from the Niger Delta basin comes in two types: light, and comparatively heavy – the lighter has around 36 gravity while the heavier has 20–25 gravity. Both types are paraffinic and low in sulphur. Nigeria's economy and budget have been largely supported from income and revenues generated from the petroleum industry since 1960. Statistics as at February 2021 shows that the Nigerian oil sector contributes to about 9% of the entire GDP of the nation. Nigeria is a major exporter of crude oil and petroleum products to the United States of America. In 2010, Nigeria exported over one million barrels per day to the United States, representing 9% of the U.S. total crude oil and petroleum products imports and over 40% of Nigeria exports.
NNPC Limited is a for profit oil company in Nigeria. Formerly a government-owned corporation, it was transformed from a corporation to a limited liability company in July 2022. NNPC Limited is the only entity licensed to operate in the country's petroleum industry. It partners with foreign oil companies to exploit Nigeria's fossil fuel resources.

The Nigerian energy supply crisis refers to the ongoing failure of the Nigerian power sector to provide adequate electricity supply to domestic households and industrial producers despite a rapidly growing economy, some of the world's largest deposits of coal, oil, and gas and the country's status as Africa's largest oil producer. Currently, only 45% of Nigeria's population is connected to the energy grid whilst power supply difficulties are experienced around 85% of the time and almost nonexistent in certain regions. At best, average daily power supply is estimated at four hours, although several days can go by without any power at all. Neither power cuts nor restorations are announced, leading to calls for a load shedding schedule during the COVID-19 lockdowns to aid fair distribution and predictability.

Buhari's anti-corruption war is an anti-graft war declared by Muhammadu Buhari, the 6th democratic President of Nigeria. This is a war against all forms of corruption in Nigeria. During the president's election campaign in 2015, he vowed to fight against corruption and insecurity if elected. Since his election in April 2015, anti-graft war remain one of his topmost priority. The anti-graft war was endorsed by the President of the United States. The United States Secretary of State, John Kerry at the World Economic Forum held at Davos in Switzerland extolled Buhari's anti-graft war. In October 2015, the United Kingdom pledge her support for Buhari's anti-corruption war. According to Grant Shapps, the minister for international development, "UK is fully committed to helping Nigeria increase its security, stability and prosperity. "We would continue to provide capacity building, technical and investigative support to Nigeria to tackle corruption. Corruption in Nigeria also affects the UK directly. Where we have evidence, we will continue to take action to protect the integrity of the UK's financial system and prevent. Some Nigerian described the war as "perfect" while others described it as "selective". William Kumuyi, the founder and general overseer of Deeper Christian Life Ministry described Buhari's anti-corruption war as a step in right direction. However, the president has been criticized and accused of leading a selective war against corruption. Several people claimed that his war against corruption focus on members of the opposition party, the People's Democratic Party.
