Nikolai Bent Paus (born 21 October 1944) is a Norwegian businessman and real estate investor. He was CEO of the construction company Eeg-Henriksen (now the Norwegian part of NCC AB), Norway's third largest construction company, from 1984 to 1997. [1] [2] Paus was also a major shareholder in the company until all the shares were bought by its then-largest shareholder NCC. [3] Most recently, Nikolai Paus was exposed as an intermediary of and beneficiary of the Playa Sol S.A. offshore entity incorporated in 1989 exposed in the Panama Papers [4] [5]

He graduated with a Master of Science degree in engineering from the Purdue University College of Engineering in 1968, and worked in the United States and Australia before joining Eeg-Henriksen in Norway in 1973. He became deputy CEO in 1983 and CEO in 1984. Eeg-Henriksen had major contracts in connection with the construction of Oslo Airport, Gardermoen in the 1990s. In 1986 Eeg-Henriksen also established a helicopter company. [6]

Nikolai Paus has been a board member of the Norwegian Export Council and of Eckbos Legat. I 1998 he co-founded the real estate company Optimo. The company was sold to Entra in 2010. [7]

A member of the Paus family, he is a son of the noted surgeon Bernhard Paus and of the humanitarian Brita Collett, [8] and is a grandson of the surgeon and humanitarian Nikolai Nissen Paus. He is a cohabitant of Hermine Kristin Muhle Midelfart (née Muhle), and is the step-father of the businesswoman Celina Midelfart.

Color Air Former Norwegian airline

Color Air AS was the first Norwegian low-cost airline. It operated from Oslo Airport, Gardermoen in 1998 and 1999 with a fleet of three Boeing 737-300 aircraft. Color Air was a brand extension of Color Line, which shared a common owner in the Olav Nils Sunde-controlled Color Group. The airline operated five daily round trips from Oslo to Trondheim and Bergen, four to Ålesund and one to London, in addition to a weekly trip to Alicante. Color Air pioneered the low-cost business model in Norway, with a denser seating, no frills and lack of a frequent flyer program. Tickets were sold only via the Internet, by telephone or in supermarkets; when bought from travel agents, there was a 200 kr surcharge.

Notodden Airport is a municipal regional airport at Heddal in Notodden, a municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. The airport is mostly used for general aviation, and has extensive sailplane activity. Bergen Air Transport operates the airport's only scheduled route, six times per week to Bergen Airport, Flesland. In 2011, the airport had 5,078 aircraft movements and 3,423 passengers. The airport has a single 1,393-by-40-meter runway with flight information service and instrument landing system. In connection with the airport is a water aerodrome, which uses the lake of Heddalsvatnet for take-off and landing.

A former politician for the Conservative Party of Norway, and having served a period as the chief executive officer of Storebrand Bank, Henriksen was CEO of the Norwegian government-owned wine and spirits retail monopoly company, AS Vinmonopolet from 2006 until his death in 2016.

Teddy Air AS was a regional airline, based at Skien Airport, Geiteryggen, in Norway. Operating between 1989 and 2004, the company operated Britten-Norman Islander, Embraer 110 and Saab 340 aircraft. The company started by providing a scheduled service between Skien and Oslo in 1990, followed by services to Stavanger in 1993 and Bergen in 1994. In 1996, it won a contract with the Ministry of Transport from Oslo to Fagernes. It also had a single international service to Gothenburg, and from 1999 it served Stord Airport, Sørstokken. Braathens SAFE's domestic market was deregulated on 1 April 1994. Since then, any airline within the European Economic Area is free to operate any domestic or international route. Braathens rejected a proposal from the main competitor Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) for a merger; instead the helicopter division was sold and the company listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. New routes were opened from Oslo Airport, Fornebu to Bodø, Harstad/Narvik and Tromsø, but the routes from Bergen to these cities were terminated. International routes to Rome, Nice and Jersey were introduced. In 1996, Braathens SAFE bought Sweden's second-largest airline, Transwede, and started flying on the Oslo–Stockholm route. The following year, Transwede, with its five domestic routes, was merged into Braathens SAFE. The same year, KLM bought 30% of Braathens SAFE and the airlines started a partnership.
