Nilofer Khan is an Indian academic and author who currently serves as the vice-chancellor of the University of Kashmir. [1] She was appointed as the first woman vice-chancellor of the University on 19 May 2022.
Nilofer Khan formerly served as the Dean Student Welfare at the University of Kashmir (KU). [2] She was the first woman to hold this post at the university. [2] The Tribune reported on 19 May 2022 that the academic had "almost 30 years of teaching experience". [3] She also served as the dean of the University's College Development Council,and as the dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology. [4]
Khan was the director of the KU's Institute of Home Sciences and also served as the registrar of the varsity. [4] At the KU,she has been a member of decision-making bodies including Academic Council,Finance Committee and the University Syndicate. She also chaired the Students’Grievance Committee at the university and served as a co-presiding officer of Internal Compliance Committee of the Central University of Kashmir. [4]
On Thursday,19 May 2022,the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir,Manoj Sinha appointed Khan as the vice-chancellor of the University of Kashmir. She is the first woman to have been appointed to this post. [5] [6] At the time of her appointment,she was a professor in the university's department of Home Science. [7] She took the charge on 20 May 2022 replacing Talat Ahmad. [4]
According to a May 2022 report of Greater Kashmir ,Khan visited several USA-based universities to examine their academic and examinations system during 2003. The report also mentions her to have had supervised more than twenty doctoral research scholars and nine MPhil researchers. [4]

In 2002,he was the youngest person to be appointed as vice chancellor of a public university in independent India. Mattoo's advice on policy matters has been sought across political parties and across governments,including by Prime Ministers Atal Behari Vajpayee and Dr Manmohan Singh. Following the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India,he has offered a political roadmap for securing the future of Jammu and Kashmir. He has been a persistent advocate of multiculturalism and of reconciliation between Kashmiri Pandits and Kashmiri Muslims.

It has been established in March 2009 through an Act of Parliament,"The Central Universities Act,2009" by Govt. of India. The university started functioning from May 2009. Talat Ahmad is an Indian Earth Scientist,former Professor at the Department of Geology,University of Delhi and served as Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Senior Scientist. He served as Chairman of Governing body which oversees Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology,Dehradun from 1 November 2021 onwards and served the office till 31 October 2027. Previously,he commenced his second stint as Vice-Chancellor of University of Kashmir on 6 August 2018 and served the office till 20 May 2022. Before that,he served as Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia,he resigned from the post a few months short of his full term. He was shortlisted by a committee constituted by the governor to shortlist a panel for the post. He had earlier taken over as Vice-Chancellor of University of Kashmir from Professor Riyaz Punjabi on 1 June 2011 and served there until the year 2014. Prior to this,he was teaching Geology at the University of Delhi.

Prior to moving to Kansas,Atkinson worked in Pennsylvania.
Rose Mwonya was appointed vice-chancellor (VC) of Egerton University in 2015,becoming the first woman to hold the position in the institution's 76-year history. She served in this role for five years,until 2021. Mwonya was one of 21 applicants for the position,and was selected after a rigorous selection process. She is a highly accomplished academic,with a PhD in Agriculture and Home Economics from Iowa State University. She has held a number of senior positions at Egerton University,including dean of students and deputy VC in charge of academics. As VC,Mwonya advocated for gender equality and women's empowerment. She also worked to improve the quality of education at Egerton University,and to increase its internationalization.

Rattan Lal Hangloo is an Indian historian and academic. He is formerly a professor and the head of the history department at the University of Hyderabad. He served as vice-chancellor of the University of Allahabad and University of Kalyani. Born to a Kashmiri Pandit family in Kashmir,Hangloo completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Kashmir in Srinagar and the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. After completing his post-doctoral studies,he worked at the University of Kashmir,the North Eastern Hill University,the University of Hyderabad,and the Central University of Punjab. He also served as a teaching faculty in several other universities outside India. Presently,he is an Honorary Vice Chancellor at Noble International University. He has written a number of books on history and provided his expertise on topics such as the nature of the state,agrarian economy,society and technology,political conflict,and the material culture of Kashmir and other Himalayan communities.
