Nir Seroussi is a music executive, songwriter, and producer. [1] He is currently Executive Vice President at Interscope Capitol Labels Group (formerly Interscope Geffen A&M Records). [2] He was previously the President of Sony Music U.S. Latin. [3]
Born in Israel, Nir Seroussi moved to the United States to attend to Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1993 where he majored in Music Business/Management and graduated summa cum laude. [4]
Seroussi began his career in music publishing in 1998 at Insignia Music (founded by K.C. Porter ). [5] As General Manager, he headed the company's joint ventures with Universal Music Publishing Group and Famous Music. Seroussi left Insignia Music in 2000 to pursue songwriting full-time. In 2002, he joined EMI Latin as Vice President of Marketing and A&R. He worked as a songwriter, A&R, and marketing executive for Regional Mexican artists Intocable and A.B. Quintanilla III, brother of the late singer Selena.
In 2004, he was named Vice President of Marketing and A&R at Sony BMG US Latin. In 2011, he was appointed Managing Director of Sony Music U.S Latin. Three years later, he was promoted to President. Seroussi signed the following artists to Sony Music U.S. Latin: Bomba Estereo, Fonseca, [6] Farruko, [7] Gente De Zona, Leslie Grace, [8] Maluma, [9] Nicky Jam, [10] Mau y Ricky, [11] Gerardo Ortiz, [12] Ozuna, [13] Paloma Mami, [14] Prince Royce, [15] Wisin [16] and Yandel. [17] In November 2018, he signed the Jenni Rivera Estate under a joint venture between The Orchard and Sony Music Latin. [18] Under Seroussi's direction, Sony Music U.S. Latin ended 2018 as the U.S.'s leading Latin music label, according to Nielsen Music. [19]
In February 2019, Seroussi joined Interscope Geffen A&M Records as Executive Vice President to "sign and develop talent for the company while also working across the entire roster to strengthen artists' global reach." [20] He signed Karol G, [21] Iván Cornejo, [22] Xavi, [23] and Khea. [24] Additionally, he forged partnerships with Natanael Cano’s Los CT label, [25] which includes artists such as Gabito Ballesteros and Delilah, and with RB Music for Grupo Marca Registrada. [26] Seroussi worked closely with Selena Gomez, [27] Kali Uchis, [28] and DJ Snake [29] on Spanish-language projects.
Seroussi has written for numerous Latin artists, including A.B. Quintanilla III y Los Kumbia Kings, Becky G, [30] Christian Nodal, Conjunto Primavera, [31] Intocable, KHEA, Luis Coronel, Melina León, [32] Olga Tañon, OV7, Ozomatli, Pepe Aguilar, [33] Rey Ruiz, Reik, [34] Ricardo Montaner and Yuridia, among others. Wisin & Yandel was a Puerto Rican reggaeton duo consisting of Wisin and Yandel. They started their career in the late 1990s and have been together until 2022 when they announced their separation, winning several awards including a Grammy Award in 2009. They became the first and the only reggaeton artists to win one. In late 2013, they announced they would take a pause in their career as a duo, after their Líderes Tour. In a 2014 interview with People en Español, Yandel confirmed that the group would not be disbanding. In February 2018, following a five-year hiatus, the duo announced they would be reuniting, and are set to embark on a world tour, as well as release new music. They sold over 15 million records.
