Niranjan Kumar Mehta is an Indian politician from Bihar and a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Mehta won from Bihariganj Assembly constituency on the Janata Dal (United) ticket in the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Before becoming a Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly,Mehta has served as Mukhiya of Madhuban Panchayat in Udakishunganj. [5]
Mehta was elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly twice in 2015 and 2020 from Bihariganj Assembly constituency. This constituency is a part of Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency and veteran leader Sharad Yadav used to represent this region in Lok Sabha. In 2020,Mehta defeated daughter of Yadav,Subhashini Yadav with a fair margin to clinch the victory for the second time. [6] Mehta raised the issue of unfair prices of maize crop,at which the farmers of Madhepura region were forced to sell their surplus maize. He advocated fixation of fair price for the farmers in order to benefit them during surplus production of maize in his constituency. He also worked for reconstruction of Uda-Madhuban roadway,which was made during the tenure of legislator Singheswar Prasad Mehta between 1980-85. [7]
Mehta is also associated with Kushwaha Rajnaitik Vichar Manch,an organisation working for political rights of Koeri caste. [8]
An audio clip of Mehta was aired in 2017,in which he was found involved in telephonic conversation with a person,who was alleging him of taking bribe in name of helping him get a government job. A complaint was also made by a person named Nandan Mehta against him in this regard. [9]

Upendra Kumar Singh,commonly known as Upendra Kushwaha is an Indian politician,and a former Member of Bihar Legislative Council and Bihar Legislative Assembly. He has also served as Minister of State for Human Resources and Development in the Government of India. Kushwaha is a former Member of Parliament (MP) from the Karakat constituency in Rohtas district,Bihar,and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. He was the leader of Rashtriya Samata Party (RSP),his own party,which merged into Janata Dal (United) (JDU) in 2009. Later,he formed Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP),which also merged with JD(U) in 2021. On 20 February 2023,Kushwaha resigned from all positions in Janata Dal (United) and formed his own party called Rashtriya Lok Morcha due to his political problems with JD(U) and Nitish Kumar.
Santosh Kumar is an Indian politician and Member of Parliament representing the Purnia constituency in Bihar. He was first elected in the 2014 Indian general election,having run as the Janata Dal (United) candidate in the constituency. In 2010 he was also elected as Member of Legislative assembly of the Baisi of Purnea district as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. Ritlal Yadav or Ritlal Ray is a leader of RJD who won the Bihar Legislative Council election in July 2015 as an independent candidate. Ritlal was in jail in connection with multiple criminal cases,including murder charges. Ritlal is accused in over 33 cases. He was a former Member of Legislative Council (MLC),the post,to which he was elected in 2016. He was incarcerated in Beur Jail until August 2020. However he was then released from the jail on bail. Ritlal Yadav defeated BJP's Asha Devi Sinha in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections.

However,Rajiv Kumar Singh,himself a Kushwaha,was able to defeat his nearest rival in the bypolls of 2021.
