Nobel Algarve British International School is a private day school in the Algarve region of Portugal, with campuses in Lagoa and Almancil. It is the oldest and largest international school in Southern Portugal. [1] It belongs to the Globeducate network of more than 55 premium international schools and online programmes educating more than 30,000 students in nine countries and on three continents. Nobel Algarve also forms part of a cluster of premium European international schools, within the Globeducate group, named British International Schools.
Founded in 1972 by a group of foreign residents and local business people seeking to establish a school with an international curriculum [2] the ‘Escola Internacional do Algarve’ slowly grew from Pre-School and Primary in early years to catering for all year groups in both a national and international section, establishing itself as a point of reference in the Algarve.
The school had long been a local benchmark in education for the Algarve, and was already the largest private school in the South of Portugal.
The Nobel Education Network bought into the Escola Internacional do Algarve in 2012 before taking it over completely in 2015, which saw the establishment rebranded Nobel International School Algarve. This entailed significant investment, which allowed the school to continue to grow.
In 2018, Nobel Algarve joined the Globeducate education network, which has head offices in Madrid and London and more than 55 international schools and online programmes educating over 30,000 students in nine countries and on three continents. This allows the schools to benefit from education-exchange programmes and inter-school competitions for sport, music, debating and drama; amongst others.
It also forms part of a cluster of premium European private international schools within the Globeducate group, known as British International Schools.
