Noise By Numbers is an American pop punk band featuring Dan Schafer (Screeching Weasel, the Queers, the Methadones, Sludgeworth), Jeff Dean (The Bomb, All Eyes West, Four Star Alarm, The Story So Far, Dead Ending), Rick Uncapher (Textbook, Dan Vapid and the Cheats, Woolworthy), and Jimmy Lucido (Nightmare Air). [1] Their sound has been described as reminiscent of Hüsker Dü, the Replacements, Dinosaur Jr., Naked Raygun and the Effigies. [2]

History

The band formed in late 2008 when long-time friends Dan Schafer and Jeff Dean started writing songs together. [3] They recruited bassist Rick Uncapher (Textbook, Woolworthy) and drummer Neil Hennessy (The Lawrence Arms, Smoking Popes) to complete the line up. They recorded their first album, Yeah, Whatever... with Matt Allison at Atlas Studios, which was released in November 2009 on Asian Man Records (CD/Digital) and Solidarity Recordings (vinyl). Hennessy left the band after recording the album and was replaced by Jimmy Lucido (Light FM, The Strays, Bang Bang). The band's second album, Over Leavitt, was recorded by Jeff Dean, produced by Jon Drew (Fucked Up, Tokyo Police Club) and was released August 2, 2011. [4] [5] [6]

Mike Soucy, of The Methadones, has also played drums with the band live.

The band has performed with acts such as Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Hey Mercedes, Small Brown Bike, Banner Pilot, 88 Fingers Louie, The Bollweevils, and Bomb the Music Industry. They have also taken part in various festivals, including Insubordination Fest, Windy City Sound Clash [7] [8] and Fest 9, [9] [10] and they toured the East Coast in August 2010. [5] [6]

The Methadones American punk rock band

The Methadones were a band formed in 1993 by guitarist/vocalist Dan Vapid. The Methadones initially lasted only a few shows before Dan put them to the side to focus on his main band Screeching Weasel. By 1999 Dan was no longer a member of Screeching Weasel or his other band The Riverdales, and decided to restart The Methadones with B-Face of The Queers on bass, and Dan Lumley on drums. The band recorded their first album Ill at Ease in 2001. After the recording, B-Face and Lumley left the band. Schafer formed a new lineup of The Methadones with guitarist Mike Byrne, bassist Sensitive Pete, and drummer Mike Soucy.

Dan Vapid American musician

Dan Schafer, better known by his stage name Dan Vapid, is a punk rock musician from Chicago, Illinois, United States. He is best known for his participation in Screeching Weasel, The Riverdales, The Methadones, and various other punk rock/pop punk bands. His current band is Dan Vapid and the Cheats.

Matt Allison is a record producer from Chicago, Illinois. He is also the owner of the Chicago recording studio, Atlas.

Jon Drew is a Canadian record producer and recording engineer based in Toronto, Ontario. He has produced the albums of Polaris Music Prize winning band Fucked Up and Juno Award nominated Tokyo Police Club. He has also worked on the albums of Canadian bands the Stars, Attack in Black, July Talk, Single Mothers, Metz, Diemonds and Arkells.

This Is Only a Test is the sixth studio album by the Chicago-based pop punk band the Smoking Popes, released March 15, 2011 through Asian Man Records. It was produced by Matt Allison and is their first album with drummer Neil Hennessy, who joined the band in 2008. It is a concept album, with all of the songs written from the perspective of a single teenage boy dealing with the growing pains of adolescence. Singer, guitarist, and songwriter Josh Caterer described it as "kind of a concept album about a teenage life. All of the songs are written from the point of view of a high school student, and they explore aspects of teenage life. This would be [about] a contemporary teenager. It's not specifically autobiographical of my high school experience. Obviously, those things are incorporated into what I write, but I tried to create a character who is the protagonist in these songs."

Cheap Girls American rock band

He has played in many different bands in Chicago, the most notable bands being Dan Vapid and the Cheats, Noise by Numbers, Textbook, Woolworthy, and The Addisons. He was born on March 3, 1970.
