Nokian lukio (Nokia Senior High School) is a school located in the town of Nokia, Finland. There are about 415 students and 30 teachers. [1] A principal of the school is Juha Sainio. [2]

The school was founded in Ladoga Karelia in the year 1919 as the local school in the town of Jaakkima (Jaakkiman yhteiskoulu). [3] The school's work in Jaakkima was interrupted by the Winter War and the school was evacuated March 3, 1940. [4] The school of Jaakkima relocated to Nokia later in 1940. [5] The school has been called Nokian lukio since 1976. [6]

The school building was built in Nokia in 1940 and it was renovated in 1998. During the renovation the school got a modern auditorium [7] which is used also by Nokia Workers' Theatre.

Gunnar Isak Lindqvist was a Finnish Jäger and a senior lieutenant in the Estonian Army. He had received military training during the First World War as a Jäger and received his baptism of fire on the Eastern Front at Misse River in 1916. Later, he took part in the Finnish Civil War in the White Army as a signals officer and in the Estonian War of Independence as a battalion commander. During his life he served in the armies of three states and was a veteran of the six wars. In the 1930s and 1940s, Lindqvist took part in several Nazi groups.

Siuro

Siuro is a village in the western part of the Nokia town in Pirkanmaa, Finland. In 2015, the population of the village was measured to be 2,526 inhabitants. Siuro is a fairly large area, which includes the western part of the nearby Siuronkoski rapids. The historical border between Turku and Pori and Häme Provinces ran along Siuronkoski until the end of 1972. The village of Linnavuori is also often considered part of Siuro. In the north the area is bordered by Highway 11 and in the south by Lake Kulovesi. Siuro is less than ten kilometers from the center of Nokia and 25 kilometres (16 mi) from Tampere.
