Noorulah Delawari is a former Governor of the central bank of Afghanistan,Da Afghanistan Bank,he served from 2004 to 2007 and from 2011 to 2014. [1]
Delawari was born in Kabul on November 23,1942. He studied in the UK and the US and stayed in the US after the invasion of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan in 1979. He served for sixteen years at Lloyds Bank of California,rising to be vice-president and head of its international division.
Delawari returned to Afghanistan in early 2002,to work as senior advisor to the minister of Finance. In 2003,he founded the Afghanistan Investment Support Agency and served as its president until November 2004,when he became head of Da Afghanistan Bank in 2005. Although the House of the People initially rejected his appointment as governor of the central bank in 2006,he stayed on as governor until 2007.
After 2007,Delawari became Chief of an Afghan Investment Support NGO and was reappointed as Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank in November 2011,after previous governor Abdul Qadir Fitrat in the aftermath following the Kabul Bank scandal. Fitrat claimed he was under threat for investigating fraud at the privately owned Kabul Bank. [2] Delawari had a good record from his previous stint as director of the bank,the trusted acquaintance of Karzai kept his position until he handed in his resignation on 6 December 2014. Delawari currently serves as co-chairman of The Private Sector and Civil Society Enabling Council. [3]
Burhānuddīn Rabbānī was an Afghan politician and teacher who served as president of Afghanistan from 1992 to 1996,and again from November to December 2001.
Mohammad Najibullah Ahmadzai,commonly known as Dr. Najib,was an Afghan politician who served as the General Secretary of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan,the leader of the one-party ruling Republic of Afghanistan from 1986 to 1992 and as well as the President of Afghanistan from 1987 until his resignation in April 1992,shortly after which the mujahideen took over Kabul. Asadullah Khalid is a politician in Afghanistan. He served as head of the National Directorate of Security (NDS),which is the domestic intelligence agency of Afghanistan. Before his appointment as the head of the NDS in September 2012,Khalid served as the Minister of Tribal and Border Affairs. Between 2005 and 2008,he was the Governor of Kandahar Province and prior to that as Governor of Ghazni Province (2002-2005). From 2018 until 2021 he was the Minister of Defense. Khalid is said to be affiliated with the Islamic Dawah Organisation of Afghanistan and has been noted as one of many loyalists of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

Sherkhan Farnood was an Afghan banker,Chairman of Kabul Bank until late 2010,which is Afghanistan's largest private financial institution with over 1 million customers. Farnood held 28.16% of the shares in the Kabul Bank. He also owned Pamir Airways,in partnership with Khalilullah Fruzi/Frozi,Mohammed Fahim and possibly others. According to media reports,by November 2010 Da Afghanistan Bank insisted both Farnood and Kabul Bank chief executive Frozi had been removed from bank management;. As of early 2011,both were effectively under house arrest and could not leave the country.
Mullah Noorullah Noori is a militant and Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan since 7 September 2021. He was also the Taliban's Governor of Balkh Province during their first rule (1996–2001). Noori spent more than 12 years in the United States's Guantanamo Bay detention camps,in Cuba. Noori was released from the detention camp on May 31,2014,in a prisoner exchange that involved Bowe Bergdahl and the Taliban Five,and flown to Qatar.
Abdul Qadir Fitrat was the governor of Da Afghanistan Bank from 2007 to 2011. He fled to the United States and was wanted by the Government of Afghanistan. He was residing among the large Afghan-American community in Northern Virginia until his death in April 2024.

Farooqi served as the Chancellor of Kabul University from 2016 to 2021 until the fall of Kabul in the hands of Taliban. He also served as Advisor Minister to President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Higher Education. He previously served as Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation from March 2009 to January 2010 in the cabinet of former President Hamid Karzai.
Ajmal Ahmady is an Afghan-American economist and politician who formerly served as the Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Afghanistan,Da Afghanistan Bank,the Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry of Afghanistan,the Senior Economic Advisor to the President of Afghanistan,and represented Afghanistan on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) natural gas pipeline.
