The Norfolk Public Schools, also known as Norfolk City Public Schools, are the school division responsible for public education in the United States city of Norfolk, Virginia.

In 2019 Sharon Byrdsong became the interim superintendent, [2] and in 2020 the designated superintendent. [3] In 2022 she got a term renewal until 2026, with five board members supporting and two board members opposing. [4]

Larchmont Elementary, in the Larchmont neighborhood, also takes students from the Highland Park and Lamberts Point neighborhoods. The current building of Larchmont Elementary opened in 2017. [5] The school, previously known as Larchmont School and at one time having middle school grades, [6] began in October 1913. Originally a part of the Tanner’s Creek School Board, it became a part of the Norfolk school district after Norfolk annexed the area on January 1, 1923. [7] Its original building later became a part of the College of William and Mary. [8] This building, after the transfer to the college, was the administrative offices up until 1936. [9] In 1930 Larchmont School's next building opened, and in 1954 an addition with six classrooms had opened. [5]
Sewell's Point Elementary School was named after the landmark Sewell's Point, which in turn was named after Henry Seawell. [10] Sewell's Point Elementary is the zoned elementary school for on-property dependents living on the grounds of Joint Forces Staff College. [11]
Norfolk is an independent city in Virginia, United States. Old Dominion University is a public research university in Norfolk, Virginia. It was established in 1930 as the Norfolk Division of the College of William & Mary and is now one of the largest universities in Virginia with an enrollment of 24,286 students for the 2021 academic year. Old Dominion University also enrolls over 700 international students from 89 countries. Its main campus covers 251 acres (1.02 km2) straddling the city neighborhoods of Larchmont, Highland Park, and Lambert's Point, approximately five miles (8.0 km) from Downtown Norfolk.
The Fairfax County Public Schools system (FCPS) is a school division in the U.S. commonwealth of Virginia. It is a branch of the Fairfax County government which administers public schools in Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax. FCPS's headquarters is located in the Gatehouse Administration Center in Merrifield, an unincorporated section of the county near the city of Falls Church; the headquarters has a Falls Church address but is not within the city limits.
Newport News Public Schools (NNPS) is a division of Newport News, Virginia that operates the city's system of public schools. As of 2021-2022, NNPS had an enrollment of 26,648. NNPS employed about 2,738, including approximately 1,714 teachers.
Harrisonburg City Public Schools is a public school division in Harrisonburg, Virginia, United States. The division includes one high school, two middle schools, six elementary schools, Elon Rhodes Early Learning Center and a vocational school, Massanutten Technical Center. Klein Independent School District is a school district that covers 87.5 square miles (227 km2) in Harris County, Texas, United States. It became an independent school district in 1938. Almost all of the territory is unincorporated; a small portion of Houston is within the district. In the 2020–2021 school year, Klein ISD had 52,824 students. WHRO-TV is a PBS member television station licensed to both Hampton and Norfolk, Virginia, United States. Owned by the Hampton Roads Educational Telecommunications Association (HRETA), a consortium of 21 Hampton Roads and Eastern Shore school systems, it is sister to three public radio stations: WFOS, WHRV, and WHRO-FM (90.3). The stations share studios at the Public Telecommunications Center for Hampton Roads next to the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, while WHRO-TV's transmitter is located in Suffolk, Virginia.
