Norman Richard Marlborough (born 12 August 1945) is a former Australian politician.

Biography

Originally from England, Marlborough was born in Westow, Yorkshire, and arrived in Western Australia in 1963. [1] Before he entered parliament, he was a fitter and turner and later a union official. He was elected as a Labor Party member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly for the seat of Cockburn at a by-election on 7 June 1986, following the death of Clive Hughes. In 1989, he transferred to the new seat of Peel after a redistribution. [2]

Marlborough served in a number of Shadow portfolios and then in Government in Parliamentary Secretary roles. On 3 February 2006, he was promoted to the Cabinet as Minister for Small Business, Minister for the Peel and the South West, and Minister Assisting the Minister for Education and Training. [2]

On 9 November 2006, Marlborough resigned from the ministry and from Parliament following the release of taped phone calls to disgraced former premier Brian Burke in which Burke advised Marlborough as to how to answer a question regarding the appointment to a government commission. [3]

Marlborough is married to Ros Marlborough and has two sons, Patrick and Richard.

Tony McRae (politician) Australian politician

Anthony David McRae is an Australian politician. He was an ALP member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2001 to 2008, representing the electorate of Riverton. McRae unexpectedly won the traditionally Liberal seat of Riverton in the 2001 Gallop-led election and held the seat at the 2005 election.

The 2007 Peel state by-election was held in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly district of Peel on 3 February 2007.

The Carpenter Ministry was the 34th Ministry of the Government of Western Australia, and was led by Labor Premier Alan Carpenter and his deputy Eric Ripper. It succeeded the Gallop Ministry on 3 February 2006 due to the retirement of Dr Geoff Gallop from politics on 25 January, and was in turn succeeded by the Barnett Ministry on 23 September 2008 after the Labor Party lost government at the state election held on 6 September.

Paul Miles (politician)

Paul Terrance Miles is an Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2008 to 2017, representing Wanneroo. He won the seat after defeating sitting Labor MLA Dianne Guise. Miles was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Commerce in 2013 to 2016, in the Barnett Ministry. In the dying months of the Barnett Government he was made Minister for Local Government, Minister for Community Services, Minister for Seniors and Volunteering, and Minister for Youth in September 2016.
