The 1980 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXII Olympiad and commonly known as Moscow 1980, were an international multi-sport event held from 19 July to 3 August 1980 in Moscow, Soviet Union, in present-day Russia. The games were the first to be staged in an Eastern Bloc country, as well as the first Olympic Games and only Summer Olympics to be held in a Slavic language-speaking country. They were also the only Summer Olympic Games to be held in a socialist state until the 2008 Summer Olympics held in China. These were the final Olympic Games under the IOC Presidency of Michael Morris, 3rd Baron Killanin before he was succeeded by Juan Antonio Samaranch, a Spaniard, shortly afterwards.
Peter Thomas AntonieOAM is an Australian former rower. He is an Olympic and Commonwealth games gold medallist and world champion. He is regarded as one of Australia's greatest ever rowers figuring in senior representative squads consistently from 1977 to 1996 and representing Australia on eighteen occasions at three Olympics and fifteen World Rowing Championships. He competed at the highest levels as both a sculler and a sweep oarsman, in both lightweight and open divisions, across all boat classes. He won twenty-nine Australian national championship titles in his career.
Daniel Londas is a French former boxer who competed for France in the men's featherweight competition at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. After a first-round bye, he was eliminated in the second round by Soviet Viktor Rybakov (0-5).
Mohamed Bangura is a former Olympic boxer from Sierra Leone. He represented his native country in the 1980 Summer Olympics, which were held in the Soviet Union capital of Moscow. He fought in the men's lightweight division and was defeated by eventual silver medal winner Viktor Demyanenko of the Soviet Union after disqualification in the second round.
Andreas Zülow is a retired amateur boxer from East Germany who won a Lightweight gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympic Games. He also won the silver medal at the 1989 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Moscow, and the bronze medal at the 1986 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Reno.
Kazimierz Piotr Adach is a retired boxer from Poland, who won the bronze medal in the lightweight division at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Soviet Union. In the semifinals he was beaten by eventual gold medalist Ángel Herrera of Cuba.
Viktor Leonidovich Demyanenko is a retired boxer, who represented the USSR at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Soviet Union. There he won the silver medal in the lightweight division, after being defeated in the final by Cuba's Ángel Herrera. Demyanenko trained at Dynamo in Alma-Ata. He won gold at the 1979 European Championship. During his career Demyanenko won 267 fights out of 290.
Simion Cuțov was a lightweight boxer from Romania who won the European amateur title in 1973 and 1975. He competed at the 1974 World Championships and 1976 and 1980 Olympics and won silver medals in 1974 and 1976. In 1974, he won a gold medal at the Balkan Games. He retired with a record of 20 losses out of 155 bouts. His elder brother Calistrat was also an Olympic boxer.
Southern Rhodesia competed at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This was the first time the country had participated in the Olympic Games. It was one of two British Crown colonies who were allowed, by the International Olympic Committee, to compete as independent nations at the Games. Rhodesia was represented by two boxers; neither were able to reach the medal rounds of their respective tournaments.
Thure Johan Ahlqvist was a Swedish lightweight boxer who won a silver medal at the 1932 Summer Olympics. A tall and mobile boxer, Ahlqvist favored fighting at a distance, occasionally throwing straight punches.
Anthony Little is an Australian amateur lightweight boxer. Little is a left-handed boxer from Geraldton, Western Australia who started boxing at the age of 13. He was named Aboriginal Sports Star of the Year in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and was the first indigenous boxer from Western Australia to compete at the Olympics.
Norman Heaton Fisher was a New Zealand boxer. He competed as a lightweight in the 1936 Summer Olympics, where he was eliminated in his first bout.
Thomas Patrick Donovan was a New Zealand amateur boxer and rugby union player. He represented his country in boxing at the 1956 and 1964 Olympic Games, and won bronze medals at the 1958 and 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. He also played representative rugby for Hawke's Bay.

Robert Carney is an Indigenous Australian retired boxer. Carney competed at the 1968 Mexico Olympics in the flyweight division.
Zsigmond Kelevitz is an Australian freestyle wrestler who competed at three Olympic Games and three Commonwealth Games.
