Norre Port, also Norreport, city gate in Halmstad, Halland County, Sweden. Norre Port was completed in 1601 under the Danish king Christian IV. This was part of the city's fortifications, which also included Halmstad Castle and the ramparts you can see remnants of in Norre Katt's park and by Charles XI's road. The gate, which leads to the street called Storgatan , is angled in relation to this, a way to prevent shelling towards the city. [1]
At the end of the 1870s, Halmstad City Council wanted to demolish Norre Port; it was then in poor condition and was considered an obstacle to traffic and the city's development. The then National Antiquarian Hans Hildebrand however, summarily rejected the City Council's request. [2] Storgatan, now a pedestrian street, was until 1958 part of the Rikstvåan, which passed through Norre Port and Stora Torg, vis Österbro to reach Laholmsvägen. In 1929, Norre Port was provided with light signals that allowed traffic through in alternate directions; Halmstad's first traffic signals. Highway 2 passed through Norre Port until 1960. After the road was re-routed, the gate was closed to car traffic. [3]
At the northern entrance to Halmstad is the so-called Karl XI:s cottage There, the king had to seek shelter one night on his way to Halmstad Castle, when the gate according to current rules was not opened after closing time. Norre Port, which is one of Sweden's few preserved city gates, underwent a renovation in 2005. In June 2007, Norre Port was declared a building monument. For a period, a gallery was housed in Norre Port - Gallery Norre Port. [4]
Åhus is the second largest locality in Kristianstad Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 9,840 inhabitants in 2015, but the number triples during the summer due to tourists who come seeking the beaches and nature of the Helgeå and Hanöbukten area. Åhus is also famous for hosting one of the largest beach handball tournaments in the world with approximately 20,000 participants. The Battle of Lund, part of the Scanian War, was fought on December 4, 1676, in an area north of the city of Lund in Scania in southern Sweden, between the invading Danish army and the army of Charles XI of Sweden. The Danish had an army of about 13,000 under the personal command of 31-year-old King Christian V of Denmark, aided by General Carl von Arensdorff. The Swedish army, which numbered about 8,000, was commanded by Field Marshal Simon Grundel-Helmfelt and the 21-year-old Swedish king Charles XI. It is one of the bloodiest battles in percent of casualties on both sides ever fought in Scandinavia.

Stortorget is a public square in Gamla Stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. It is the oldest square in Stockholm, the historical centre on which the medieval urban conglomeration gradually came into being. Today, the square is frequented by tens of thousands of tourists annually, and is occasionally the scene for demonstrations and performances. It is traditionally renowned for its annual Christmas market offering traditional handicrafts and food.
The Diocese of Sigtuna was a Catholic diocese founded in Sigtuna, Sweden, established in the mid 11th century. At the time, the town of Sigtuna, situated to the north of lake Mälaren and to the south of Uppsala in the Swedish province of Uppland, had been the centre of royal power for some decades, and existed until the middle of the 12th century. It was eventually out-competed by the earlier pagan religious centre Gamla Uppsala, which was raised to the status of archbishopric in 1164. King Stenkil is said to have been the driving force behind its establishment. First bishop is said to have been Adalvard the Younger.
Strömsborg is a small islet in central Stockholm, Sweden, located north of Stadsholmen, and west of Helgeandsholmen, between the bridges Centralbron, a motorway passing through central Stockholm, and Vasabron. Administratively, Strömsborg is part of Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm and is connected to the rest of the city by the bridge Strömsborgsbron leading over to Vasabron.

Vädersolstavlan is an oil-on-panel painting depicting a halo display, an atmospheric optical phenomenon, observed over Stockholm on 20 April 1535. It is named after the sun dogs appearing on the upper right part of the painting. While chiefly noted for being the oldest depiction of Stockholm in colour, it is arguably also the oldest Swedish landscape painting and the oldest depiction of sun dogs.
The Halland Regiment, designations I 16 and I 16/Fo 31, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traced its origins back to the 16th century. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from the provinces of Västergötland and Dalsland, but it was later garrisoned in Halland. The unit was disbanded as a result of the disarmament policies set forward in the Defence Act of 2000.
Storgatan is one of the longer streets in Umeå (Sweden), about 4 kilometers long. Storgatan passes by the main city areas on the north side of Ume River. The street reaches from the old city limits at Tvärån in the west to Umeå East Station, near the Norrland's University Hospital, in the east.
Västerbottens museum in the Gammlia area of Umeå, Sweden is a county museum with responsibility for the cultural history of Västerbotten County. The museum consists of the Gammlia open-air museum, a ski exhibition, an exhibition of Fishing and Maritime, the popular movement archive of Västerbotten County and a number of Sami camps. The museum is working all over Västerbotten County with, amongst other things, numerous contract activities, mainly in the archaeological field. The museum produces the quarterly journal Västerbotten for the Västerbotten County district association.
