Maryland Route 16 (MD 16) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs 51.06 miles (82.17 km) from Taylors Island east to the Delaware state line in Hickman, where the highway continues as Delaware Route 16 (DE 16). MD 16 connects Cambridge with several communities in northern Dorchester County and southwestern Caroline County, including East New Market and Preston. The state highway runs concurrently with U.S. Route 50 (US 50) near Cambridge, MD 331 between East New Market and Preston, and both MD 404 and MD 313 near Andersontown. MD 16 was constructed between Church Creek and Preston as one of the original state roads in the early and mid-1910s. The highway was extended in both directions in the late 1910s: north to what was to be designated MD 313 near Denton and west to Taylors Island. MD 16 was extended through Andersontown to the Delaware state line in the early 1930s. MD 16's bypass of Cambridge was constructed in the mid-1960s.

The Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company is a Class III short-line railroad, formed in 1977 to operate several branch lines of the former Penn Central Railroad in both Maryland and Delaware, United States. These branches were omitted from the system plan for Conrail in 1976 and would have been discontinued without state subsidies. As an alternative to the higher cost of subsidizing Conrail as the operator of the branch lines, the Maryland and Delaware governments selected the Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company (MDDE) to serve as the designated operator.

Maryland Route 14 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs 11.51 miles (18.52 km) from MD 16 near Secretary east to MD 313 in Eldorado. MD 14 connects those two towns with the towns of East New Market and Brookview in northern Dorchester County. The state highway also shares a concurrency with MD 331 between the communities of Rhodesdale and Shiloh Church. The sections of MD 14 between East New Market and Eldorado were constructed between 1911 and 1914. The highway through Secretary was constructed in the late 1920s. The portion of MD 14 east of Shiloh Church was first marked as part of U.S. Route 213 in 1927. In the early 1930s, US 213 was rerouted through Vienna; as a result, MD 14 was extended to its present eastern terminus in Eldorado.

Maryland Route 307 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known for most of its length as Williamsburg Road, the state highway runs 6.05 miles (9.74 km) from MD 331 in Hurlock north to the end of state maintenance at Charles Street a short distance east of the intersection with MD 313/MD 318 in Federalsburg. MD 307 was one of the first highways completed by the Maryland State Roads Commission when the Hurlock–Federalsburg Road was constructed in 1910. The highway was relocated between Williamsburg and Federalsburg in the 1960s.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Maryland Route 331</span> Highway in Maryland

Maryland Route 331 (MD 331) is a 28.74-mile (46.25 km) state highway on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the United States. Signed north-south, the route runs from Vienna in Dorchester County northwest to Easton in Talbot County, intersecting U.S. Route 50 (US 50) at both ends. MD 331 is a two-lane undivided road most of its length that passes mostly through agricultural areas. The road also passes through the communities of Hurlock and Preston along the way. It encounters several routes during its journey, including MD 14 near Rhodesdale and MD 16 in the Preston area, both of which the route forms concurrencies with. In addition, the route also intersects with MD 392 and MD 307 in Hurlock and with MD 318 near Preston.

Maryland Route 392 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs 13.54 miles (21.79 km) from MD 16 in East New Market east to the Delaware state line at Reliance, where the highway continues east as Delaware Route 20. MD 392 connects East New Market with Hurlock as well as Seaford, Delaware, via DE 20. The state highway was constructed from Finchville to Reliance in the early 1930s. MD 392 was extended west to Hurlock in 1951 and to East New Market in 1957.

Maryland Route 341 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Race Street, the state highway runs 1.25 miles (2.01 km) from MD 16 north to MD 343 within the city of Cambridge in Dorchester County. The part of Race Street that is now MD 341 was constructed in the mid-1910s as one of the original state roads and designated as part of MD 16 in 1927. MD 341 was assigned to the road after MD 16 bypassed Cambridge in the 1960s.

The Glen Oak Hotel is a historic hotel building located at Hurlock, Dorchester County, Maryland, United States. It is a three-story frame building constructed about 1890. A two-story porch with Tuscan columns spans the south facade. The hotel was one of the first buildings constructed in the town, and functioned as a commercial and social center, serving salesmen who traveled by rail.
