North Hall High School is a public four-year comprehensive high school located in the northern portion of Hall County, Georgia, United States, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. North Hall serves Murrayville, Clermont, and portions of Gainesville. It is located 10 miles north of Gainesville and 15 miles south of Dahlonega.

History

Around 5:25 am on March 20, 1998, an F-3 tornado (see Fujita scale) hit northern sections of Hall County. It did heavy damage, killing 12 and leveling several structures. It became known as the "Pre-Dawn Killer". The tornado heavily damaged nearby Lanier Elementary School, before unroofing the high school. [5]

In 2010, North Hall was recognized statewide when Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue made a visit to recognize the 95% graduation rate achievement reached by the school. [6] North Hall is a qualified International Baccalaureate school, [7] meaning that it offers students the ability to earn an International Baccalaureate diploma.

The North Hall Band program consists of a marching band, symphonic band, concert band, jazz band, winter guard, indoor drumline, and several smaller ensembles.

The Marching Trojan Band fields competes in competitions during the fall season as well as the annual Hall County Marching Exhibition.

Lahser High School was a high school in Bloomfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan, near Bloomfield Hills and in Greater Detroit. It was a part of Bloomfield Hills Schools. The school was opened in 1967. At the time it had 200 students, and enrollment later reached almost 900 students. In 2010, the decision was made to merge the school with sister school Andover High School, on Andover's grounds. In 2020, it was decided that the Lahser campus would become the site of Bloomfield Hills Middle School North following a successful bond proposal. The football program had five consecutive playoff-eligible seasons, 2002–2006, in both class 3 and class 2 MHSAA competition.

A deadly tornado outbreak struck portions of the southeastern United States on March 20, 1998. Particularly hard hit were rural areas outside of Gainesville, Georgia, where at least 12 people were killed in an early morning F3 tornado. The entire outbreak killed 14 people and produced 12 tornadoes across three states with the town of Stoneville, North Carolina, being also hard hit by the storms.

Edgar Dunlap "Sandy" Beaver was a college football and baseball player, high school football coach, and educator. He was owner and director of Riverside Military Academy near Gainesville, Georgia. In 1932 he served as member of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

The Gladys Wyant Performing Arts Pavilion is a 6,300 sq. ft. multi-functional facility used for concerts and other performing arts events in Gainesville, Georgia, US. The venue is also used to host weddings, corporate events and dinners. The venue is located on The Arts Council's Smithgall Arts Center complex in downtown Gainesville.
